i'll add a couple of posts to try to get it to move over.
i'm adding lots of 'returns' to try to make it readable. fingers crossed.PootleFlump wrote: »
hello again pootleflump! thanks for your comments! those santa sacks are brilliant! :TPootleFlump wrote: »Im snowed in for the 2nd day in a row so been making an oilcloth make up bag for a gift.
Had I realised what a b*gger it was to sew with I would never have bought it!!
This is only the 2nd thing Ive made with it and its a total pain!! x
i think you need a 'teflon' foot for oil cloth. might help?
i'm sure i read that on here back in the summer. anyone else know?23rdspiral: Your quilt is going to look wonderful.
I still havnt touched mine for ages :0( will really have to
get myself into gear.
I think its the quilting bit that's fazing me.
thanks. i'm not sure about the 'wonderful'. it's just random wonkey log cabbins that i'm making as 'leaders & enders'
to save thread and time and also to use up leftovers ect.
scrappy, yes. colourful, yes. random... certainly! :rotfl:Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
yep it seems that lots of 'returns' helps. wonder why its being odd?Hi Everyone, I havnt been on in ages!!!
Just thought I'd post some pics of my finished Christmas quilt.
I have called it "Pieces of Christmas" let me know what you think?
:T :T :T just lovely! bravo! what a lovely thing to have made. i'm quite jealous of your sticking power! :TPootleFlump wrote: »Danables, thats fantastic. Absolutely love it!!!
Im gearing myself up to do a hexi quilt at the moment but OH (who knows nothing about sewing) tells me I should just stick to patchwork. Have to say I know nothing about it either so dont have a clue what to do. Is patchwork squares or log cabin easier than hexies? I want to do something like you have done but will do whatever the easiest TBH as getting into new territory. Do you use loads of wadding to quilt it? I have been looking at books on quilting but not sure which to buy yet so a bit clueless as to how to quilt and bind etc. Well done again. Honestly think its fabulous!! x
hey pootle, humm, well it sorta depends on what you want to make and what you want it to look like!
maybe have a flick through a flickr search on patchwork and see what you like best?
or maybe do like me and have a few projects on the go at once!
my hexie quilt is still in the making/basting the hexies stage... i'm at over 500 and need another 600 or so.
it's all hand sewing so nice and teraputic but not something i'd want to do all the time.
simple sewing squares together with a machine is definately easiest.
then log cabins.
triangles are surprisingly fiddly to get alligned, unless of course you dont mind that!
danables -that was some great advice! :TRelax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
