I decided, also, that I needed to update my blog and make a tutorial. So I took photos as I went and had a go at making a tutorial. Not sure if its perfect, but you can have a look on my blog. And any feedback would be appreciated.

Why oh why did I read this, this morning........of course the moment I saw it I needed it.....I'm in the middle of some felt projects at the moment so have plenty in the stash so everything is now on hold whilst I try and get one made before the 1st! Have got the backing, tree and boxes cut out and have embroidered up to number 16.....hopefully will finish the numbers tonight.

And do you know what....I'm making it just for me! No one else can play, just me :D Thanks for sharing! :T

I've bought felt from here and was very impressed by the range, price and quick delivery (and no, I'm nothing to do with them, just a very satisfied customer!)
Oh dear, here we go again.
  • Lovely butterfly Sarah and the tutorial is very easy to follow.
  • Hi All,

Can anyone help? I am moving house and want to join a pair of lounge
curtains together to use in my new bedroom.
Do I have to replace the heading tape across the two to be joined or can I just unpick the seams and adjust the heading tape?

    Thanks

If they were my curtains, I'd unpick the side hems completely and sew them together. Buy a new length of heading tape and sew the new correct length heading tape over the old. Make sure the old tape is completely flat first.

My friend did mine for me - she did just what loanranger said.
If you need to alter the length then do that by moving the heading tape rather than fuss about with the hems - never thought about doing that till another poster on her mentioned it!

I never shorten curtains from the hem and that's simply because I can't do perfect mitred corners nor trust myself to get a perfectly straight hem.:o
Always shorten from the top of the curtain.
No need to remove heading tape if you are cutting off more than the width of the tape or if you want to be very MSE and re-use the tape.:D It's easier to hide any mistakes at the top of a gathered curtain than at the hem. This does not apply to eyelet curtains!
