Does anyone know the cheapest place to buy Bondaweb or equivalent?
I thought of getting some to make doing applique easier but I was looking in Dunelm and it's really expensive.0 -

i use the single sided stuff, it holds the shape well and then i just pin down. it's about £1.00 a meter from my local craft shop. they package it up themselves and it's a bit tricky to find in the shop!
edit: sorry, i bought 2 packs but store them together, so really that's £1.00 for a 1/2 meter!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
I bought a metre of vilene double sided from local habadashary and it cost about £4.50 m, however, if you are doing applique a little does go along way.0

I use vilene all the time, I pay £2 a metre for tear away and £2.50 for iron on, although I am not sure if this is the same stuf you are talking about. I get mine from my local haberdashery shop.
Remember those embroidered patchwork squares I showed you a while back? Well I had two that were tester ones from when I very first tried out the deigns. They weren't good enough to use as patchwork squares as the edges weren't perfect, so.....I thought today.....bookmarks!!! You know, just for a change LOL. they came out pretty well actually. Considering there is probably about a total of three hours work in stitching the designs out, I thought I would sell them for £6 each or two for £10. They're pretty original aren't they, so different. I'd love to do more of them but they seriously do take a long time to stich from start to finish.
I also wanted to make a start on some stocking filler bookmarks for my family. After the successful denim bookmark I made yesterday I thought I'd do my Dad one in denim also. Then of course when I got to my Mums' I'm thinking could I used denim? Then I saw the beige lace hanging out my fabric cupboard:D So I laid it over the denim before embroidering her name. I think they will like thses as they are both readers. Could I have some feedback on these please as I am thinking of doing a craft fair next year and doing a load for that. Would they sell? I haven't been to a craft fair for about eight years!0 -
Wow meggielo - absolutely love those. The idea of lace over denim is great!
I think they would sell, especially if you did lots with initials on so they were personalised - I love that touch.
BTW - is there a way of doing that edging on an ordinary machine?Jack of all trades ... Master of none

Thank you for your feedback, yes lots of different initials is a great idea, maybe work through the alphabet over the next six months doing two of each maybe.
I'm not sure if you could do that stitch on a normal machine. Its called satin stitch. Actually it may be possible, if you can adjust the stith width on your machiine and do plenty of practice at getting the needle to just drop of the edge. I will have a look in my machine manual and see if it does this stitch without the embroidery arm. I think it may do .0 -
