Forgot to add lovely pirate/tutu what a good idea.

Louise; I would go to your local library and have a look at the sewing books in there you and see if anything takes your fancy. They usually stock a good selection of lovely books - try before you buy!! Welcome to the thread by the way.

Emzy81; I have recently bought a Tesco £69 sewing machine and it does me fine. (hasnt got loads of fancy stitches or owt) In Llidl they did have boxes of assorted threads/needles and bobbins at only £3.49 a bargain so bought 3! Mostly for the bobbins which fit into the Tesco machine perfectly (only got 1 spare one with it) so now I dont have to keep messing about with colour changing on the bobbins. Also they had another box with scissors and other stuff which was also handy......the scissors I've found are quite sharp and does cut fabric really well. (bought 2!)
As for fabric pick up in charity shops/ebay/cut up discarded clothing!
    Hope that helps

I got my machine from eBay and it came with abox of threads, bobbins, spare needles, scissors and stuff.

And here for fabirc very much not top quality, but it is cheapest I have found so far and the delivery has been good for me. They accept best offers, usually 20% lower than the asking price if you are buying more than 1mt. Material will need washing first because it has a smell. But as I said, it's cheap and if like me you need a bit of practice, its good.

Thanks for the replies :) that sewing machine you got looks very good, I have some money on an argos card though so wanted to use that up,

but having doubts as to whether the argos value one is worth getting now lol, is having automatic stitches better than having manual stitches?

In your honest opinions which would you go for....

If you really have to buy from Argos I'd go for the Brother machine as they normally come with a 3 year guarantee.
