cuddles123 - Slippers! :) Scarves etc - what have you made for the girls? Are you looking for clothes ideas?
    ,

I've made Cat Doorstops, Tissue Holders and little drawstring bags to hold Handbag Hangers for the females.
Also Bread Baskets and Sewing Tidies.

    Need similar ideas for men.

Typed up a reply and lost it! Here goes again -

What about tool rolls, based on the same idea as the crayon or knitting needle rolls, except all tough and manly of course. They could be used for a set of screwdrivers, allen keys or spanners. I'm quite into DIY myself and the plastic packs eg allen keys come in usually become brittle and disintegrate before too long.

A tool belt is another possible? You would need some heavy canvas material and it might be tough on your machine though.

Good idea amymac - will give that some thought

  • Sarahjovi, I've just been looking at your blog and your new sewing cupboard is really good. Very organised.

You know that fabric you've freecycled because you're never going to use it?
It'll be just what you're looking for at some time in the future!

Thanks, the cupboard has been a long time coming, my material was in bags on the floor before. The fabric for freecycle is still sitting in the kitchen, pending one last look through before I offer it. I know there be something I wish I hadn't got rid of, but there are things I've had for years and never used!

Finally made another bag, I've had the pieces cut for nearly a week. A bit late for the summer maybe.

    Hi guys!!

I am looking to start sewing, and looking for some tips. Last time I sewed was about 13 years ago :P

Ant tips on where would be a good place to start? Any books, guides, equipment or kits I should look out for? Has to be even easier than beginners level!
  • Love your bag genieuk, gorgeous colours.

Hi, Louise, what are you thinking of making?

    Hello Louise

I've recently joined in this thread too, there are pics lots of lovely makes and links to very helpful tutorials, fabric shops, book recommedations etc.

Do you have a sewing machine or will you hand sew and do you already have fabric that you want to use or will you have to buy first?
