  • I'm off to Birmingham city centre for a gig soon and wondered if I could combine a bit of fabric shopping at the same time. Does anyone know of any markets/fabric shops within walking distance? I normally use the modern collection from Clarke and Clarke (pastel dots and florals) and would also be interested in felts, haberdashery, etc, no saris or silks.

I used to work in Brum many moons ago and I vaguely remember an indoor market near the Chinese Quarter. Is that still there?

Hi all, just catching up a bit - thanks for your comments on my draught excluder. Turns out he does such a good job of stopping draughts though that the bathroom ceiling is starting to go a little ... black ... through lack of ventilation, so he's been moved and is now just an odd-looking sausage dog :o

This is fabulous I love it - some gorgeous fabric squares in there. I recently went for a mooch in The Cloth House in London - very very nice but not cheap sadly. I think there are a few fabric places on Berwick St actually, and it's not far from Liberty.
Look what I won on Ebay for the princely sum of £8.70.

No way! Amazing, how funny that the belt costs almost as much as the machine! You lucky thing!

Is anyone going to the Stitch & Knitting show at the Alexander Palace this weekend?? http://www.twistedthread.com/pages/exhibitions/viewExhibition.aspx?id=26&view=travel

My Mum is going to have the boys for me so I can go. However, I am currently not working so have to watch the pennies!

If you have a lot of time on your hand 23rd spiral, another idea for you (although tickets are £15)
