Just to add.. I can stretch a little bit more on littlewoods as dont mind paying that off weekly... any good buys on there?
How about the brother sewing machine xl3600? Would that last me longer? as I hopefully get better lol0 -
Hello
Brother ones are very good... I wouldn't pay £200 for a manual one tho...
using your original budget: what about this Brother http://www.sewingmachinediscount.co.uk/special-offers/brother/ls2125/123-c60-v0.htm 10% more off at the checkout/or when you call to order. They take about 3-4 days to deliver. (I got mine there, and no issues)
Or what about this little fella: http://www.sewingmachinediscount.co.uk/sewing-machines/toyota/toyota/9296-c58-v0.htm
But seriously, the argos one is finex

I like the look of the toyota one (esp the rrp lol)... im kinda leaning towards the side of littlewoods/very... i know its moneysaving but i think i'd prefer to pay it off as i go rather than use my christmas stash money lol Do any look appealing on there? I know the price is going to be more than anywhere else.. It will be cheaper if I use my very one though... There are a few 'brothers' models on there? Any advice as to which I should go for?
Thanks soo much xxx0 -
good luck picking a sewing machine. i've a basic one that my nan gave me 15yrs ago and it's still fine for my needs (if not my wants!). That Toyota looks good. and defo avoid the little pink one - it probably would get toppled over if you tired to sew anything bigger than a place mat! if often see little ones like that at car boots, so i'm guessing other people quickly out grow them. good luck!Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0

Just wanted to say that I bought a Toyota machine recently and I love it.
I have the Quilt 50 and was persuaded to buy it instead of a computerised Brother by the guy in the shop who highly recommended Toyota.
Good luck choosing.Jack of all trades ... Master of none

The catalogue ones are fine... but WAY overpriced!
Is there a sewing machine shope near you? I would recommend going in and listening to them all at high speed. Some of them whine!
Anyway... it's a hard job to pick!! And you will probably like which ever one you get, and wish you'd spent more. You can't ever win really x0 -
Hello everyone. I'd like to join in on the thread if I may, been enjoying the pics of your makes and the general sewing chit chat.
Been sewing (on and off) for many years, and for the past year or so much more on with mostly craft items.
I'm just starting to get in to quilting and went to the Festival of Quilts at Birmingham in August with two busloads of Scottish quilters, it was a great weekend trip. I saw the Lisa Lam 'Bag Making Bible' there but had spent all my funds (and then some!) by the time I came across it.
Saw it mentioned on here at a very good price and ordered it from Amazon but the delivery estimate is 5 Jan - 14 Feb 2011! Has anyone else ordered it and waited a long time for delivery?
I've got lots of other projects I can get on with, so not too worried though.0 -
