Wow, you lot have really been nattering since I was last on this thread!

I have been addicted to this site - http://sewing.craftgossip.com/ - bookmarked loads of tutes for things I want to make!

I have made a couple of bits that I've added to my blog but I have run out of stuffing so the rest of the sock monkeys (which are already cut and stitched) will have to wait!

  • I don't know whats wrong with me today  I just can't get motivated and I'm not feeling one bit creative. I think I am still getting over this horrible cold:mad: I've got loads of stuff I'm desperate to make but I just seem to have lost my mojo! I've also had a couple of sales through my Etsy shop which is great but now I have to make a sock monkey to send to Houston Texas on Monday and I just can't seem to find the energy to start:rolleyes: Does anyone else sell their creations on Etsy:D

I did my first sock monkey by hand with a baby sock. It's still my eldest's favourite even though it's been mended more times than I can count.

    Hi everyone,

I've got a friend who's bought a whole bale of soft toy stuffing. She says she wants to sell it for £3.90 per kilo plus postage to me... Do you think this is cheap?

Depends what she charges you in postage. You can buy it for £2.99 on Ebay but postage is £3.50.

Awe shucks. Thank you everyone for saying nice things about Hoot. I'll let him know ;). I didn't follow a real pattern, just drew a body shape in paper till it looked right, ditto wings. Cut and sewed 2 body shapes right sides together, stuffed, hand closed. Ditto wings and added. Added buttons and a twig from Uncle's garden. So I guess i cheated by not giving him a pieced bottom. I've probably got the paper pieces somewhere, I could scan them if that would be of use?

I think I'll have a go myself actually, give him his own little personality. Need to find something tweedy in a charity shop first :D Thanks for the pointers though!

I paid £3.23 for 450g in what I consider a cheap shop (Boyes) yesterday, so yes depends on the postage cost.

I did baking tonight instead of sewing... :o

  • Also depends on the quality of the stuffing, I'm very fussy about my stuffing as some can go quite lumpy;) I've found that the big bag I get from Dunelm for £5.99 is usually quite good:D
