Hi
Need a bit of advice, my DD has a prom dress, slightly boned and corset back, however, it feels like it is going to fall down. I'm handy with a sewing machine, so thought about taking it in a bit but not sure wheres the best place to take in. Would I be best taking it in at the side seams or the two seams on the back?
Thanks0 -

If I was doing it I think I would take in the side seams.
Another thing that might help is something I have seen on some of the dresses in a shop near us. They have a 3/4 to an inch wide piece of elastic that goes from one side to the other across the back. It is only attached at the sides and fastens in the middle and presumably helps to hold the dress a bit more secure. Alternatively some nice straps to might help but like my daughter she might not want straps.0 -
danabals i love the boys shorts and pj bottoms. i have two little boys ( 4 years and 2 years) who woul both love them. My son said to me what can i make him as i've my daugther some skirts. can't raid hubbys wardrobe for shirts as he wears them all, but i think a might look in charity as the pj bottoms be ideal in this weather. could even make them short legged pj bottoms.0

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea and for the elastic - I may try that as well as I don't want it falling down on her. I have asked if she wants straps adding but doesn't want them.0 -

Yesterday I bought the fabric to cover a small day bed. I have never done a good cover so I'm hoping that everything goes well this time and following my Mum's advice I am taking things very slowly and thoughtfully. My start to that is not doing anything whilst it is so hot!0

hi silly question but before i make anything with all my lovely fabrics should i wash them first or wait till ive made the itemI am a stay at home mum with a passion for life and all things crafty:xmastree::santa2::xmastree:0

I wash them first so any shrinkage happens before you cut it into shape. If you are worried about fraying just cut the edges with pinking shears. You can stand there and agonize........
