Hi - I am not a sewer, wish I was sometimes, but I am more a papercrafter. Just popped in to show you a site you might like that sells funky modern fabrics, I found whilst bloghopping today.

    Here's the link:

Hope I'm not duplicating anything, haven't read through the thread but thought you might like it. Not that I want to encourage you to spend, this is after all meant to be a money saving site! :D

    Hi Kandi {waves}

Hi lovely, nice to see you in the sewing thread, thanks for the linkie, thats one of my favourite shops!

    Hi everyone! :hello:

I have been lurking all week, because I didn't have much to contribute until now because last night I HAD MY FIRST SEWING CLASS!! I absolutely loved it! :j I made a clutch purse and it is lovely - I am so proud of it! I really didn't think I would have anything to show for it, because I thought we would just be learning techniques (which we did) but we also completed our wee project too. Okay, I'm a bit nervous, but I'm going to show you it now:

    I hope this link works!

    Jo :)

Jo your purse is fantastic! I am not suprised you were delighted with it, do you know what else they have planned for you to make?

jcr, I just love the little skirts you do for your daughter, I keep asking my son for my grandaughters measurements but he only has her every other wkend as I would love to make her some (she is 4) and I know she will love them too :D.

dizzy, dont be scared, I had not made any clothing since school (very long time ago :rotfl:) and then I only ever did 1 pair of trousers :o but I made the jacket and had no problems even if I did choose the worst fabric to start makeing clothing with (stretch jersey) I just took my time and used here and the internet for help :)

Jo, your clutch bag is delightful, very well done on your 1st project :T

Cuddles, thank you for the instructions on how to do the bibs, I will have to make DIL some to put on GC2 :D

qwicksave, thank you for the link, I just love fabric so love it when there is more choices (and cheap lol).

nact, I was going to put a pic on here of the dress Im going to do but my photoshop is playing up so I have to wait until my PC geek :rotfl: (sorry OH) gets home from work to see if he can sort the prob :D
It is supposed to be a 2 hour one but Im not holding my breath to do it that quick :rotfl:

Kandi, I can not wait to be a nan again and hold a baby (best bit hand it back lol) I have so many things I want to make :D . My DIL's mum is not so happy though as DIL's sis is expecting too :rotfl: 4 wks between them.

I will catch you all later tonight :) after work :(
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

jo_rourke - great purses looks like a good job done there

Cuddles - love the baby things, bandana bibs look great, got a friend who's expecting at I'm planning on doing a Homemade baby gift and these might get added to the list

JCR16 - great skirt, I've got some of that flowery material, its really great, sew and washs well and was dirt cheap! Made DD1 a halternecked dress from it

Hart44 - if it helps my 4.5 year old who is average sized has the following measurements
    waist 21 inches
waist to mid calf point 18 inches
The Lazy Days skirt is very forgiving in terms of measurements so you should be ok if you want to chance it.....

Thank you Bunny, that is great :D
I love these skirts and I have had the fabric ready for ages but you know what men are like :rotfl: if I wait much longer for my son to sort measurements my GD will be 21 :rotfl:

Aw the baby things are so cute. The bandana bibs are absolutely awesome. I might have to make up a few to give as raffle prizes at a baby event I'm organising next week. I already made a nursing cushion using my diminishing supply of Tesco duvet fabric. It has an inner that I stuffed with pillow insides and then the removable outer cover which can be easily washed. The little hearts are just tacked on so that they look nice in the packing!

I already have one order for another one.

I'm quite new to sewing so I haven't contributed anything to this thread before, but you all make really gorgeous things.

After seeing the other lovely girls skirt on this page I thought I'd share mine. This is only the fourth thing I've sewn so I'm quite happy with it. I think it looks nicer in real life, but I'm biased :rotfl:.

I was a bit miserable last night and spent £50  on fabric to cheer myself up. It will last me ages though, and I'm planning to use it to make some zippered pouches and things as presents so it's less un-mse than it sounds as I'll be able to make loads... Yep, that was my attempt at justifying it...
