    Hi all!

I got my sewing machine in January this yr, not made much really, a basic Roman Blind, A peg bag (a must!) a few table cloths, all just practiscing really.

Ive started a course recentlylearning to sew, and have done a purse with zip and am now on with a skirt. (My course is on tonight, i get sew (!!!) excited on a thursday!

Anyways, im a bit scared of patterns but have just bitten the bullet and ordered 2 maxi dress patterns from simplicity which im just gunna have a go at. Might just get some really cheap fabric to play with first and make a mock up

hi everyone, i've loads to catch up on but not sure if i can - i've got computer problems and it keep crashing so i can't stay long!

apartfrom work and having to sort out for over a week lving in a field at glastonbury festival, i've been really busy craft wise - Im nealy done on the charity quilt square, have made 1 raven for my friends shop (in glastonbury town so i save postage), some felt mushroom pins for her shop too, many felt bits cut to take with me for when the offic is quiet, and trying to sort out 2 more charm square swaps.

Tina - due to computer probs i only just saw youve posted the list. could you remind me of the posting date please? also perhaps a little mor advice on what 1 item is? i've not done an item swap b4, only fabric.

Kandi - i'm totaly stoked to have you - i dont feel worthy! im gonna have to get my crafting mojo sorted for this one! i know yu like shabby chique from what you make , butyou make the things soo well i coldnt compete so i'm a little belwidered!

    * ok, s the puter is getting worse, mising letrs out now. think i'e got a torjan in my sart up. bu**er.

Hi Spiral there isn't a particular posting date. Its what ever you and and your partner (Kandi) want to agree to between yourselves really:D.

One item can be whatever you want (yes i know i am being as much use as a chocolate fireguard aren't i!). I think the examples i gave were maybe 1m of ribbon or a fat quarter of fabric or a small tub of buttons as being one item. Aren't you hexy mad though so maybe a small bundle of your lovely hexagons might be one item:D.

    I hope that helps a bit x x

    Afternoon

I have been reading through this thread and there are some lovely makes on here.

I know that somewhere on one of the pages is a link with instructions on to help you sew your zip - I think its Kandipandi? that has the instructions, can someone point me in the right direction.

    Many thanks

minimaka - not sure if it was me but this is the tutorial I would recommend for putting zips in makeup bags.

Natc, I've recently been given that book. It's really quite comprehensive, there's loads in there. It covers all sorts: patterns, fabrics, seams, hems, etc. It also has a number of projects to work on at the back.

Hi there, thanks for your reply - :) Do you think then that it would be suitable for a beginner and for me not to get bored with after a while?

Have you used it to help you with anything yet or made any of the projects?
