th_dresspattern.jpg?t=1276890362This is the dress pattern I am going to attempt tomorrow :rotfl:
My one problem is.. Im not sure what size to cut the pattern to :o Im a size 10/12 but the sizes they give for my measurements is a size 14 so not sure if I should do 12 or 14.
I dont want to do it as a 14 then find out its too big or the other way a size 12 then can not get in it (oh Im confused :o)
Im doing the patterned dress at the bottom by the way.

I just love the latest makes :D well done everyone :T
Danables, I hope your day is better tomorrow and Im always having a look at your blog :D

Hart, I have done a couple of new look patterns. I am normally a size 8/10 in skirts and it told me when doing my skirt (based on pattern sizes) that I was a 12. I did an 8 and it fitted (had to omit 2 darts but apart from that it was a perfect fit). Im still finishing my dress (again New Look) but the reason its taken so long is because based on pattern sizes I started making a 12 (I have big boobs) but it was like a tent on me so Ive had to completely change the pattern and style to get it to fit (I should have made it in a 10). I would be inclined (if I were you) to do the smaller size. :)

    hi shirlgirl2004

Pootleflump's right - you have to 'like' the page - and then tell them which item/s you'd like if you won (you have to click the link to get to the clearance page to see what there is).

Hope that makes sense - good luck xx

  • Does anyone have the Tilda book 'Sew Sunny Homestyle'? I'm attempting to make a beach bag on page 89 but I really don't understand the instructions :o Could someone clever take a look at it for me and explain it in words of one syllable?

The bit I don't understand is where it says for the small bag cut fabric 70 x 80cm, then fold it double top to bottom and side to side so it measures 35cm deep and 40cm wide. Then you cut out an 8cm square out of the bottom two corners and sew together down the sides as far as the squares and along the base. OK with me so far? Then it says to fold the corners the opposite way so the seams align to create a base. BUT... this is the bit I don't understand because if I have just sewed the sides I can't turn it through. Oh bloomin heck, you all probably have no idea what I'm banging on about. Hopefully someone has the book and has made the bag and if they have, maybe they can explain and I'll be eternally grateful. :p

    grrrr!

Oh thats soooooo much easier, I've just made a couple of tote bags and cut off the corner as a triangle (lining up the side seam with the bottom fold) but I really wasn't confident about doing it as you are lining up something you can't see. It came out ok but I'd be much happier doing it that way!!!!
