Have had a quick read today but am really here to ask for help. I have been making DD a dress today. It is this one. I got as far as doing the buttonhole. Now this was a little ambitious but I wanted to try a buttonhole for the first time. Anyway I have broken my buttonhole foot. The spring has come out and I don't now where it goes. Can anyone describe or provide a pic of where the spring goes on theirs? I'm guessing they are all fairly similar. Otherwise I'll have to buy a new buttonhole foot. :(

It may help if you give us the make and model of your machine as they probably vary. I'm sure mine doesn't have a spring! Or google your make and model and add button hole foot, and you may find a picture!

It's a frister & rossman 3018 as sold by www.sewingmachinesdirect.co.uk labeled as their own make SMD on the site but not on the machine. It has a one step buttonhole foot and from looking on the 'net a lot of the onestep feet are very similar. The spring is, I think, supposed to be underneath.

I have finished the dress using a bit of a workaround. I can't take a pic because although DD is wearing it she isn't very well so isn't being cooperative. I would still like to fix the foot because otherwise I'll have to buy a new one.

I'm so excited I was given a car boot load of sewing goodies yesterday, pattern, fabric etc, I'm spending today going through it all.

I've got my sewing mojo back, and made my DD2 a dress today. However I've found a pattern which I bought 4 years ago(!) and never got round to making. It's for a girl aged 6 months to 4 years, and as my DD is now 5 it's no good. It hasn't been cut out, so you could trace the size you wanted and keep the original intact to make in a bigger size later. I can't find any pictures on the internet, but it's a skirt, dress and top. It's New Look 6228 and is an 'easy' pattern, so if anyone wants it to make something for their little girl I'll happily post it to you, just pm me (it's winter clothes by the way).
Is it this one? Just to help incase anyone is interested.

Inspiration struck this week with a make over project for my bathroom....I made curtains and bunting for the window - here and then went on to tinker with the left over fabric and came up with this to use as a doorstop.

I'm very pleased with the results :j (although typically when hemming the curtains which should have been a very quick and easy job, my sewing machine jammed solid......I took it to bits, cleaned everything, oiled everything and put it back together and it worked fine!)
