Thanks Vicki I am planning on giving some away as presents for christmas and birthdays, but there are only so many women in my family that would appreciate these. I think at the end of the year I will have to do a craft fair or set up a shop on folksy or etsy and get rid of the stash I am gathering.

I just made a bag to put my pegs in if my washing ever dries.

I'm going to have a very well coordinated house unless I get some new fabric!

I could do with a peg bag as mine are in a little basket and DS keeps knocking it over so I getting fed up picking pegs off the floor

Ive not done much sewing today (just finished my hearts I started Saturday).
My wonderful OH took pity on me and went to Focus and brought me a big work table and shelves so I can keep my sewing machine out and off the dineing table. I did realise I had so much stuff to sort through :rotfl:

When Im all sorted and set up I will put some before and after pic's on my blog (sometime tomorrow as I have go to work soon).

Fruitloop, per conversation we were having last week, I did a "mini" messenger bag prototype today (is much smaller than it looks in pictures). Its not going to be used or anything (which is why it has no handles and its all creased! - I couldnt be bothered faffing about with them as was only making this to check sizes). Anyway, my niece (7) loves JLS so Im planning on making her a proper one but just thought Id have a bash at putting photos on fabric etc and trying it out. Its quite a dinky little thing - It turned out around 8.5" to 9" square. I can give you the measurements I used if you want and you can perhaps just reduce them to the size you think you might need for your DS. - Pootle x

Edit: Ladies, apologies for ruining the page size. I have reduced these in PB but its not working for some reason.

  • Evening people, when I just starting out sewing I used the book called 'Softies' because it shows you how to do different embroidery and sewing stitches, and it has templates to make 'softies' (which are basically just stuffed teddies in different shapes) so its a good place to start, although there are probably plenty of books out there to help you but I found this one useful as it had clear instructions.
Then once I had learnt some of the different techniques I started searching on google and blogs for peoples ideas and tutorials, and now, a year later, I am making my own clothes and gifts for people!
I would post a picture of the stuffies/link to my blog, but I'm not allowed as I'm a newbie :(
p.s. I'm loving the idea of making a dress or cushions out of duvet covers
