I had my DGD round yesterday and she has asked me to make her a swirly dress  I have only made a little simple jacket since leaveing school (long time ago :rotfl:) so this will be a bit of a challenge but Im going to give it a go :rotfl:
I saw this tutorial for a swirly dress yesterday
http://fromanigloo.blogspot.com/2010/05/in-garden-shirred-twirly-dress.html
there a few options for shoulder straps there and the measurements given were for a 4 1/2 year old

Vicki, thats great!!! Where did you get the duvet cover from? - its so pretty!0

Ah, thanks for your replies, I wasn't sure if it was worthy of putting on this thread as your stuff all looks so professional.
The duvet cover was Tesco in the sale, and I just winged it as the patterns I have all seem a bit complicated! I saw how to do the shirring on a blog though.0 -
Hi
Thanks for the welcome Hart.
Lovely dress Vicki, I've made DGD some dresses from some old skirts of mine.
The body warmers, some go to the local hospital & some to a charity group that knit for preemies, I had a prem baby in 1977 (yes I am very old, lol,) & still like to support the SCBU's.
I have a sewing machine & an overlocker, but rarely get past the basics as work & life get in the way.
Hugs Hester

The sizeing is perfect too as my DGD is a small 4 yr old, I have been told it has to be pink too :rotfl: she is a real girly girl, all princess, pink and twirly :rotfl:Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

Vicki - your dress is great, cant believe you have made a dress already, well impressed!
Here are a couple more makeup bags I made the other day:You can stand there and agonize........

I'm going to make an oven glove as my current one is revolting! Do I need a specific type or thickness of wadding if that's even what it's called? Or could I use something I already have knocking about like an old towel for example in the inside?
I'm making a tiny version too for Dylan (my 2 year old!) to use in his play kitchen as he keeps pinching mine which may explain why is has become so grubby!
Kandi, nice bags, what do you do with them all, are you going to sell some?0 -
Kandi, love your make up bags!!
Hester (and all other new people) welcome to the thread!
Vicki - Thanks for details of duvet cover. Might have to go and browse round Tesco now!! Here are a few oven mitt tutes for you.
