I'm waiting patiently for photos of what lovely sewing you've all been doing this bank holiday weekend
I haven't done any but have cut out: 3 teapots, 6 cups and saucers, 6 hearts, 5 birds and 2 large cupcakes. The cutouts are going to be appliqued onto cushion covers, bags, etc and also made into little fabric pictures. I'm waiting for my machine to come back from being looked at and then I can get going with some freemotion embroidery. The spare machine doesn't drop the feed dogs so I'm busy prepping stuff instead. Tomorrow I can get on with painting the photo frames which saves me from doing the housework

Genie that is the tutorial i used for my yo- yos. I have also done little in the way of sewing today but did some makeup bags yesterday, I will post photos tomorrow. You can stand there and agonize........

What are your local repairers charging for looking at machines? Mine wanted £50 to look at it, plus parts, etc. My friend looked at it for me and I'd threaded it up wrong (had gone outside of the plates instead of between them, or something like that
) so I have saved myself quite a bit! I was expecting about £30 or so!

Can I join in?
At present I'm making Stargazy Hen doorstops & knitting prem baby body warmers. I subscribe to Prima & love their dress patterns, I also have a corset in kit form waiting to be made.

We are all getting back into sewing and slowly learning so we all help each other along with advice (were poss :rotfl:) and praise as we love seeing what has been achived by sewing machine or by hand
I had my DGD round yesterday and she has asked me to make her a swirly dress  I have only made a little simple jacket since leaveing school (long time ago :rotfl:) so this will be a bit of a challenge but Im going to give it a go :rotfl:Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a timeand Love sewing

What a lovely thing to do, is that for the hospital?0 -
I made my first dress, well almost, I just need to put a lining in the skirt.
It's a bit rough but only on the inside and I covered any dodgy visible bits with a lacey trim!
It's made from a duvet cover. I did some shirring across the back and some elastic under the bust all round and at the back at the top so it just stretches on as I don't think I'm ready for zips just yet.0 -

Thats great, did you use a pattern you bought, followed a tutorial or just winged it? I love the fact its made from a duvet cover, must look at them in argos etc as options for fabric, theres some lovely fabrics used for duvets these days (I remember having a horrible terry towelling one as a kids!)0
