Hi Keiss  glad you posted, that bag is brilliant, what a great idea!
I have seen similar style ones used on the side of children's cots, or the back of pushchairs to keep dummies and bits and bobs handy.
I'm sure your friend will be delighted with the beautiful handmade items, I love the celtic bookmark and the card is simply beautiful!

  • hello everyone can I join you? I have a new sewing machine and so far have made two aprons. I would like to make a long cotton kimono (like a dressing gown type thing) and would appreciate if anyone has seen a pattern for this, many thanks.

I'm really loving having a machine, I don't know how or why I coped before! I'm making some bunting for a picnic/event I'm organising in June as my first project and so far so good.
I'm finding the tension hard to understand. If I go fast it seems to play up a bit, should I just be a bit slower or do I need to fiddle with the dial?

You should just be able to adjust your tension dial rather than having to go slower. I think it also depends on what material you using.

Is this the same as a Kaftan (Caftan- not sure how to spell it)
If it is then I have some links that I got from people on here that I can post again if you need them. I havent started mine yet. :o
  • Hi everyone, hope you don't mind if I join in. I've recently bought a sewing machine and have been getting to grips with it. I haven't done anything yet, apart from taking up some curtains, but today I plan on attempting a book bag. Rather than buy fabric, I bought a lovely floral double sheet from the charity shop to practice on, so we'll see how it goes. One day I hope to attempt making my own clothes.

I've loved seeing what everyone has been making - your creations are amazing.

Right, off to put this rainy bank holiday weekend to good use.

    Bye for now.

Hello MrsMoneyspinner and Blacknarcissus - welcome!
Vicki - the speed should not affect the finish of the sewing really, try playing with the tension. Did you check your manual that came with the machine, it may give you an idea of the tension required for certain fabrics etc, I think mine does.
