    Hi Everyone, :hello:

Have been noseying in your thread for some time now, its great, thanks for all your links and advice :T.

Anyway I saw a pattern for a tea cosy, it was pink patchwork with buttons on it. I bought the book which I thought it was from, Sewing in No Time by Emma Hardy but its the wrong book. It does have a cosy in it but not the book I was looking for.

If anyone can remember which book it is that would be great. Have tried to re-read and find out but as I just kept dipping in and out ive got no change, its such a mammoth thread.

The Sewing In No Time book is good though and thanks to whoever recommended it.

    Hi everyone :D

I made a buttercup bag on Sunday, I had 2 small pieces of Cath Kidston fabric I needed to use and an old white pillow case with embroidered top part (I used this part for the linning (hope you ca see it :D)

It was a pain trying to work how the top band fitted the top till I bent the main bag a bit :o

I used the pattern from this site http://madebyrae.blogspot.com/2009/02/free-buttercup-bag-sewing-pattern.html

These are my bag pic's here http://i906.photobucket.com/albums/ac266/hart4334/mse/buttercupbag1.jpg

Im going on a work night out soon and will use the bag then :D
Getting myself sorted 1 day/1thing at a time :) and Love sewing :)

Shadowfall, welcome to the thread. You can get 60's/70's patterns on ebay although they are quite expensive so you might be better just googling for blogs and tutorials and see what pops up.

Hart 44 - I love your bag. Ive been eyeing up this tutorial for ages (using the one that is for the bigger version of it) but I dont know if its perhaps too difficult for me? Is it quite fiddly or fairly easy to put together?

Here is my latest make. Its a shopping bag for my Mum (she asked for extra long handles.) The stripey bit at the front is 2 pockets. I did manage to put in hidden handles this time (between lining and main fabric) so am getting slightly better!! I have to attempt something more difficult now but Im a bit scared to cut up all my nice fabric just incase I do it wrong!! Might try the buttercup bag once I find out how difficult it is!!

Love both of those bags :T, need to get going on some bags myself but have a bit of a fear factor, dunno why I make clothes (with varying success!) but have this concept that bags are hard! I just wanna make a couple of tote bags for the girls swimming stuff and I've collected loads of tutorials including the Buttercup Bag on the subject, just need to pull my finger out!

Ah, probably not then. I think the one i'm thinking of is either Derbyshire or Nottinghamshire or some other shire near there!

I'd Love to visit northumberland in the autumn and see waves crashing against cliffs...

Sunshine ~ the bag is great I like the idea of the longer handles so you can sling it over your shoulder! The inside is very good contrast with the denim.

    Hi,
the bag was quite easy (I printed all the instructions and pic's off) I did have to fiddle around with the band but after realising I had to cup the bag part to make it fit I soon had it mad up.

I have only been sewing for a very short time and the bag is a bit wonky but Im pleased with it :D

Your mum's bag is lovely, well done :D

  • It is possible now to buy just the book http://www.getknitted.com/acatalog/AK_Traditions.html this has the doll pattern and also patterns for a few outfits.

This site gives a bit more information
    http://sewing-basket.co.uk/blog/aktr...-friends-books

Wow! £22 for a pattern leaflet!!!! Somehow I don't think I'll be knitting these anytime soon. Mind you, the second site is even more expensive - £25 for the leaflet. I honestly just could not afford to spend that much on a pattern booklet. But thank you to Sethsgran for the info.

Hart44 ~ don't know how I missed it yesterday but I have just seen your buttercup bag - It's beautiful! I love the fabric you have used on the outside but I love the inside even more.
Its like a little secret, you open it ups to find that lovely lace at the bottom.

I have some far quarters left I must make myself on of these soon.
