The machine looks great. I'm sure you will get on with it just fine. I bought my machine from there and I felt like a kid at Christmas when I opened the free gift pack. I use the scissors all the time.

I finally bought a sewing machine, a Janome 525. Now I just need to learn how to use it! ;)
Someone on 'thesewingforum' always recommends this as a good solid machine. She says that at the school where she works this model will cope with anything the students ask of it.

I plan to make these... http://juniberry.blogspot.com/2008/04/dolls-basket-tutorial.html for my 2 little grandaughters. 1 of them is to become a big sister in the next few weeks so I think a carrycot will be nice for her, I am also knitting one of these dolls for her ... http://www.aktraditions.com/html/passionate%20knitter.html so she has a new dolly. My other grandaughter already has her AK doll which she loves so I thought a carrycot would be cute for her too. I will probably give the carrycots as a gift for easter.

  • Does anyone know where I can get the patterns for the AK traditions Dolls and their clothes? I would love to knit these but the kits are very expensive and I have lots of wool I could use.

    Hi everyone,

I see I'm a bit late joining this thread! Only just got my hand on an old Singer machine (lent by my grandmother) and am rather excited about setting it up and getting going.

I'm particularly interested in making some 1950/60/70's inspired dresses and such. I'm looking for patterns and ideas so if anyone has any advice on either front, I'd be very grateful!

I'm a newbie at the sewing game really, only done a few things a while ago so looking forward to the challenge... and hopefully the cheap, one of a kind clothes!

Hope all the lovely projects I've read about are doing well :)

I'm two thirds of the way through my FIRST EVER clothes pattern. It's a blouse from essential magazine. I've only got to put on the sleeves, hem it and then the dreaded button holes and buttons.
    So far it fits....bonus.
I've found the curvy bits a bit hard to get right and I messed up the collar a bit, but all in all not too bad.
It's made out of a single childs curtain, so it'll look kinda funky when finished. Hoping to get it done this evening. Will post pics soon.
Going to be so stoked if it looks ok.
Hoping it'll spur me on to do more.
