It's lovely and doesn't look wonky at all. When I made mine I cheated and bought a baby's pinafore dress in a charity shop. After turning it inside out I sewed the bottom shut and ... ta da, two minutes later I had a peg bag.
What a great idea. My DD has one she's more or less outgrown. It's only red cord so not particularly pretty but better than a plastic bag.

Yeah that is a good idea, the plan is to make some for mothers day, one with cats and one with dogs so I have to actually make them :(

  • Thanks for the thanks! I'm not much of a sewer but I like to do odds and ends like the peg bag that even I can't get wrong. Yeah, if you were to look for a baby dress with cats or dogs on you'd never find one but you can bet your life there'll be loads of them in the charity shops a week after Mother's Day.

Well as a test for the peg bag I wanted to make I made myself one, I made the pattern myself and it was symetrical when I drew it but I don't quite know how this turned out quite so wonky.

I think for the others I have to make I will do a more simple pattern. The rick rack was a pain in the b*m to machine stitch on and I lost my temper a few times!

It dosnt look wonky at all! I think its fab and I want one! I bought a new one a few years back, but its a bit faded form being out in the sun. I love your pattern, it looks similar to the one on a link on here a few posts back. Ill put it on my list of things to make!

I have finished the tilda sheep and almost the doll, - just waiting on fabric- also have to stitch the patches on to my bear. I like having a few projects on the go at the same time as i get bored easily... thats like me and books, im currently reading 9!

I picked up some curtains in the local charity shop a little while bag now, and made cushions covers out of them. Then another set I made the lining for my new grandsons moses basket. I will have to take a picture and show you all.
I have just cut out a handbag for my mum out of Fabric Samples that I first cut across the diagnal and joined two different fabrics together, that left me with two pieces of fabric together, to cut out my bag. I will also show you all a bit later. Need to get the camera some new batteries.

I know these arent very good but thought Id post a couple of piccies of things Ive been making to try and practice a bit as Im still really new to all this (which I find quite frustrating!). Made a lined make up bag type thing (dont really know what it is!) with an old duvet and with my new Ikea love heart fabric I made my niece a cushion cover (still needs a cushion) and a lined zipped pencil case. Here goes....

I am not usually a fan of Ikea fabric its a bit odd for my taste but I do so love that heart fabric, mmm. I see a trip to Ikea coming on. Can I ask how much the heart stuff was please?

    they're fantastic! :T

does the red make up bag have a closing? if not, it'd be great on bathroom shelf/dressing table for all those bits like eyeshadow and earings that end up lurking about :)

    Wilkinsons sell cheap cushion pads.
Or on the well known auction site. I got 23 cushions for £20 earlier last year, including postage. Still have a good few in the box, waiting for my covers! Which depends on what fabrics/clothes i pick up in the charity shops, or from families cast offs!!
Talking of cast offs, I have a huge bag of one of my daughters babies clothes and hers, that need sorting out for putting away for the next grandchild, and or for fabric or charity. Maybe I will do that tomorrow. Its not the best of jobs

good luck! i've got some bags of old clothes of mine that are hard enough to get rid of as 'they might be useful one day'. we are also going through my nan's clothes (she died at xmas), which is really difficult.
