I didnt have a pattern but I did have an idea of what I wanted and measured my smallest bag (and my purse) so that it would be the right size! For my first real sewing project I am quite pleased with myself!
here it is
You did this as your first project, and without a pattern? :T Wow i am impressed! :T and inspired, it's a really good idea. thanks!stardrops42 wrote: »Thanks, yes she loved it and put it straight on his cot bless:A I finally have a pic of him to show (proud grandparent alert!:rotfl:) I apologise for taking over the thread but here is a pic of little Oliver:A
Gosh! how lovely is he?
No apologies needed - he's totally adorable. And we'd all have been disapointed if you'd not posted a piccy.
Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Well as a test for the peg bag I wanted to make I made myself one, I made the pattern myself and it was symetrical when I drew it but I don't quite know how this turned out quite so wonky.
I think for the others I have to make I will do a more simple pattern. The rick rack was a pain in the b*m to machine stitch on and I lost my temper a few times! You can stand there and agonize........

OMG stardrops hes GORGEOUS! You must be beaming! im looking forward to becoming a grandparent- i have a long time to wait as my los are 3 and 1! but oh to give them back once youve finished playing with them and have a full nights sleep! (dreams)
Not to put a dampner on your idea of a grandchild, but due to my daughter having learning disabilities, I am currently caringfor my grandduaghter, aged 2. I have been for the last 13 1/2 weeks. So no full nights sleep and still get the dirty nappies and the terrible two's tantrums!!!:AWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

The top where the shoulders are they are miles out!
And the bottom is wonky, I was a bit fed up by then with that rick rack stuff and I was just stuffing it in and hoping the machine would pick it up :rotfl:You can stand there and agonize........

I have a George at Asda black long sleeved t-shirt which shrunk in the washing machine. I also have an old red t-shirt that's gone out of shape. I decided to make one good t-shirt out of two bad ones by cutting the red t-shirt just under the arms and sewing it to the bottom of the black one. I now have a very interesting looking black and red t-shirt which fits very nicely instead of a black t-shirt which keeps riding up and exposing my tum every two minutes. Am I pleased with myself? You bet. And it only took two minutes to do the cutting and five minutes to do the sewing.0
