Rufus what a beautiful dress. The colour is very rich looking.
I need to find some time to sew. I have made a couple of baby quilts in the last few months and have bought material for another so I need to get motivated.

I don't have an overlocker as just a very beginner. but I am cutting up some (a lot) of fleece squares together and thought maybe some pinking scissors could be a worthwhile addition to my ever increasing box of tricks. I did find a pair in an old box that are at least 40 years old but feel very heavy and not very comfortable to hold, I saw these on ebay and wondered if you all thought they may be the thing I am looking for or if you could steer me in the right direction

Morning all, not sure how much sewing I will get with this lovely weather and OH being off work this weekend but I have cut out some fabric to make up a little wallet sort of thing to put a notebook and pencil in for shopping list, plus room for coupons the other side. Thought they might be ok on my stall. Need to saw the pencils in half though so they are not so long. Got a pack of about 12 in 99p store so going to give them a try. The notebooks were in there too, got 4 for 99p, bought two packs to see how they come out. Might get another pack when I go up town today.
Sold two campervan cushions last night so need to cut some more of those out. They were from my Etsy shop so glad people are seeing the items as don't really sell much from there.0 -

Honealone,
Pinkiong shears are fine, but not if you want to cut a lot at once. A rotary cutter is invaluable for cutting a lot of fabric, when I am quilting I use the cutter on about four layers of fabric..you definitely need a cutting mat and a self healing one is worth the expense, Don't be fooled into buying a glass mats, that they sell in the hobby stores, telling the ladies that these are fine for using with rotary cutter, they are not, they blunt the blades very quickly.
If you have a zig zag stitch on your machine this can be used instead of a serger to hold the edges.
When using fleece remember your machine will lint up quicly, so keep the bobbin case area free from lint and everything should run fine.
I hope this helps0 -
Rufusdog, you are on a roll with this project. Sounds like you a winner on your hands with your notebook and pencil holders. I love going into the 99p stores, as you never know what useful bargains you will find.0

Thank you rufusdog - my sister paid me £120 for it which was broken down as follows - £55 for fabric for the squares, £20 for bamboo wadding, £10 for binding and £10 for backing fabric. So I made a little bit for myself. It measures around 2m squareCurrent Mortgage balance - £363,785.35/£420,000 (highest point Oct 2022).0 -
keza that is GorGeouS!!!! Those colours are perfect together.
I love blues. Do you buy material by the metre or buy ready cut as in charm packs etc.
That's the worst thing for me about making quilts, cutting it out. I keep saying I'm going to buy charm packs but sometimes there's the odd colour pattern that I don't like, so it puts me off.
Ahh decisions decisions!
