What lovely makes there are. I need to go back a few pages to see what I've missed. Nice to see there are even more people taking up sewing :T
Belowtheline; I have used duvet covers/sheets/curtains (some charity shops sell them cheap) and other material for quilts in the past. Although if you want a theme it's harder to get the right pattern. Yours is looking great and I bet it looks lovely in his bedroom.

Here is my 'Sunshine Sampler' using up my tiny bits of stash that I couldn't throw away :D

I love this, its really beautiful. May I ask how long it took to make?

Im hoping someone can help me because I have a quick question.
I know that you can take waist lines in but is it possible to make them bigger? about an inch I would say

It would depend on how much fabric you have in the seams Winnie and how many seams. If its a skirt with darts and seams then count how many you have, then divide an inch into that many, eg if you have two seams then you need 1/2 inch from each seam, so you would check your seams and see if you can squeeze half inch extra to each. If you have two seams and two darts then thats 4 so you would only need to squeeze 1/4 inch from each.

Winnie; each square took about an evening to do. Although some were a bit quicker than others.
I can't help with the seam thingy but Rufus has given a good guide.
  • pennib that is absolutely beautiful - well done!

So I attempted to make an "Easy Peasy" girls skirt that takes 1 hour. I've been at it all night and it's a bloody disaster.

I couldn't figure out the waist band instructions at all so my waist band isn't stretchy in the slightest. I somehow managed to sew my fabric the exact length of the relaxed waist band so it's now fixed like that. It's out of shape too and wonky! Maybe I rushed a bit in my excitement. Was made from a pair of curtain and I still have load of fabric left so will try another time. My DD will have lots of fun trying it on tomorrow though.

I made this dress the other day. I've since done one for my niece and another for my daughter - really easy and perfect for summer!

Been there a few times. I'm still astonished at how a fairly simple project I've chosen can take 5 times as long as it's supposed to :)

  • Oh no, had an accident :-( Managed to snap off the little holder for the spool on top of the sewing machine. Can't find a spare part. It's just the pole that sits inside the spool. Any ideas where I can find a spare part? It's my mother-in-laws sewing machine. It's a Toyota Classic.
