I've been following tutorials and making little outfit for my little girl. A summer playsuit and a skirt made from left over fabric from a duvet cover. I don't post very often here but lurk a lot and admiring your lovely makes. I hope it's ok to show them off. I am so pleased I wish I learned to sew ages ago.0

merrymary, they are gorgeous makes. Well done you! Did they take very long to make?PAYDBX 2016 #55 100% paid! :j Officially bad debt free...don't count my mortgage.

Thank you
the playsuit took me almost all day :rotfl:but it's really easy once you've made one. It's just shorts and vest top with elastic in the middle inside a strip of fabric. And the skirt has 2 pieces of fabric with elastic on the waist, I've unpicked it since and made a waistband. Not really good at explaining but there are really good tutorials out there. I follow this blog : http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2011/08/little-girl-romper-what-would-you-make-challenge.html
Not made clothing before so am starting on small projects for DD and hopefully I'll be able to sew simple summer dresses for myself.
shipr!!!95 very nice skirt and top. I love your fabrics especially the floral one. Would love to see what you do with them

I can get busy making some lovely tops and dresses this week.
This is what I made last week.....
That's some lovely fabric. and your clothes are stunning.
I really want to start making clothes but they look so complicated. Do you have to use a pattern?I'm trying so hard to be thrifty, but it doesn't come naturally. You lot are an inspiration!JUST LOVES THE O/S BOARD0 -

Thanks Winniepooh :-)
I use patterns. I find that Simplicity patterns are straightforward to follow. They do cost about £8. But there are plenty of offers online. I subscribe to Prima magazine an get a free pattern every month.
25 yrs ago I did GCSE textiles and learnt how to follow and adapt patterns, so I'm revisiting those skills.
The blouse above was adapted from the pattern in the current issue of Prima. I removed the sleeves and instead of the neck and armhole facing, I used homemade bias binding to coordinate with the skirt pockets.
I really enjoy dressmaking, although my fabric stash has got a bit out of hand recently...... It's supposed to be a MSE hobby...:D;):eek:Slimming world new starter 2/1/17:D:DWeight loss so far 5 stone 8 lbs

For the skirt above, I used this pattern.

It only took a couple of hours to make... no zip, just an elastic waistband. I made one in a lightweight denim too.
I'm going to make the trousers too.Slimming world new starter 2/1/17:D:DWeight loss so far 5 stone 8 lbs
