The Sewing Room

I am currently knitting, instead. Making Turbans/wrist warmers/scarf. Two sets so far. Well nearly, just need to sew the last set together. Its a change while I cannot get access to the machines.
Have masses of ideas from all over the place to get sewing as soon as the snow has gone, and I can get the grandchildren back to school.
I currently have DGD2 as well as her other granny who looks after her, has just lost her Dad, so not able to babysit at the moment. Bless them. He died yesterday, so its understandable. If I hadnt had her then my daughter would not have been able to go to work, and the financial cost would have been significant. As I am currently running out of funds, after spending too much not having my eye on the ball! opps.
Luckily when I do get back to the sewing machine I have plenty plenty in my stash to use. Not sure I should call it a stash, more line a hoard! I was given several single sheets at the weekend as well. Just deciding if I am going to actually use them as sheets for DGD's bed, or whether they will end up in the making pile!.
Will have to have some quick makes to make up for my make a day, as the knitting is slower, so its taking a few days to do things. However I am still working at crafts every day so perhaps that will count towards my make a day. Not that it matters as its only me doing it.When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

I've only just found this thread, so forgive me if someone's already posted this idea.
When I'm taking up trousers or skirts I start off, then every 3 or 4 stitches I do a couple of 'finishing' stitches on the inside (if that makes sense). That way, if the hem gets pulled and the stitches give way only a small section comes undone. Much easier then to repair just that area.
Hope this helps someone, and sorry if it's already been posted!Wilson the Volleyball is one of Hollywood's most loved volleyballs. His glittering career started when he became the only companion of Tom Hanks' Chuck Noland in Cast Away. Many say this is Wilson's best performance and he couldn't have given a better effort.0 -

Hi there, I subscribe to your blog and this is how I did it, on the right hand side of your blog (near the bottom) there is a box headed Meta, under that there is a sub heading Entries RSS, if you click on that the Subscription page pops up.
I hope that makes sense!
Great blog too, lots of fab ideas and tips thank you0 -
I managed to sew the knitted set together, and after throwing out a "new" real of thread that snapped in my fingers never mind the machine, and a packet of needles that had come with my Sewing set from Lidl before Christmas, because the Eye of the needles was so sharpe it was cutting the threads after only a few stitches. Talk about frustration. Anyway, I put an older needle back in the machine, and managed to finish my tote bags with the animals on. My "out of Africa" ones as the pictures were cut from a panel of fabric that I had bought from Germany, with photographs of the Masi mara warriors and animals.
There is a picture uploaded off the iphone onto my blog. What a faff that was. The settings in my laptop were stopping me from being able to upload jpgs. etc so I had to go through Google Chrome, and not my normal Windows Explorer. What a complete nightmare I seem to be having with technology these days.
DGD is ill today, she came home from school with a cold/temperature and a bit of a cough, so its calpol time in the Mooloo household, and stay in and keep warm.
(Which means apart from to clear my garden path, I havent been outside since Saturday) and I am getting stir crazy. I had hoped to go out today, but there you go thats going to have to wait another day. I wonder if DGD will be ill enough to actually sleep and rest up, or will she be like the advert for calpol and be bouncing around and doing the "mess around".
I want to be able to spend a little time in the bedroom turning it back into some work space, so I am not climbing over storage stuff and bedding etc. I could really do with DS taking his bedsofa away and giving me another 6ft of the room back. My Simply HOmemade magazine arrived in the post yesterday, so I have done a good flick through it for some inspiration, there is a childs bunny rabbit that is made out of fleece, I may have a go at that later, but I dont have a photocopier that enlarges, so I will have to think about doing a graph grid on it and drawing a bigger one, like we did in the old days. mmmm time consuming or what. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
I have been looking at lining fabrics on Ebay. They have some Anti Static lining for dress and jackets etc, have any of you used this before and know if it really is anti static? I will need to wear a pair of tights under my dress which will be made out of crepe and I suffer a lot with static like if I have to sit on plastic chairs or something like that lol. Would hate to be half way through the wedding and my hair starts to stand on end and I start sparking or something, plus it would be really uncomfortable0
