I am so disappointed today, I spent ages cutting out the shapes for my small cushion front I was trying to make and none of it lines up at all. Feel like I wasted hours and it has put me off so would love to see your video, how do I find your blog?0 -

when i did mine i used 2.5inch strips of each fabric and i used 4 fabrics per block that had a finsihed size of 8x8 or 8.5x8.5 cannot remember which.
you can cut your strips any width you could do them at 3inch and use 3 colours or 5 colours its up to you.
have a look at the tutorial/explanation i wrote on how i did mine, its on my blog it may give you more of an idea.
i would warn you though i made a single bed quilt for my daughters day bed its on my blog it was quite big when finished so take your time and you will have to take your time when quilting it too as you will have alot of bulk to deal with and manoeuvre0 -

I bought a "template" kit from fleabay, one that you iron on to the material and then cut out which I did, sewed them together in rows but the rows don't line up?
I have attached a couple of photos, one of the piece and one with the piece stitched and a type of kit used although not the exact pattern (can't locate it at the moment, threw it somewhere in despair!) :rotfl:

Ok I don't know the type of template you used, but what did you use to cut out was it scissors or a rotary cutter and ruler?
The first square top left and the last square top right (half square triangles) look taller than the two squares in the centre of the top row (quarter sqaure triangles) I would check what size fabric you were meant to start with for each design
Did you use the same seem allowance usually 1/4 inch?
The second row seems to have all shifted left.
you need to line up the seems first of each square and put a pin in it and then line up the outer square edge, also when you pur!e each row, press the seems to the left on one row and to the right on the next and when you line them up and pin they nest better together and you can see to line them up better.
Accurate cutting, sewing and pressing is the key to success0
