  • Hi

I just KNEW there must be a thread like this on here somewhere :p:D:T

Hope no one minds me butting in but i've done something really really silly! My darling daughter has offered my services to make her and 3 others a ballgown for the school play! Yes a BALLGOWN  and i've agreed.:rotfl:
Its only a school play so a homemade looking thing is fine, i've done some googling and i think this type of thing will be easiest / cheapest (since no one wants to spend any money)

basically a simple halterneck front / top with a tulle / net tie skirt. do you think that would be ok and easy enough? or can anyone here can come up with a better suggestion?

Ah bless her! She obviously thinks very highly of your abilities, so it's a great compliment to you :D

Any little girl would love to wear something all frou-frouy and frilly like that pic I'm sure. I know my daughter would (and my eldest when she was little loved that sort of thing).

  • Hi Guys,

    Great thread!

Not sure if this fits into sewing, but i love crafts and found a great competition on the Craftseller Facebook page. Its to win a Cricut mini machine worth £129 and a free cartridge. Not sure if anyone has used a Cricut before but my cousin has one of the fancy ones and its amazing! thought it may be worth sharing with you all. I can't seem to post the link but if you search the Craftseller page on Facebook you can find it on the comps tab.

    hi

the secret is have the gusset on the bottom and at the point where you make the turn ie like at a corner or in my case the ears and tail you make a very small snip in the gusset and turn your top fabric only.

when i made the spotty one i think i had the gusset on the bottom, but when i made a blue one the other day i had the gusset on top and it all went pear shaped!

this one i put the gusset on the bottom and did the snip trick and its fine. its alot crisper in its finish

hmo. Gives a good feeling when you triumph over something that just will not go right...good for you sticking with it! He's a cute looking doggie.

mum2loves. We will send a search party out for you under all the netting and other pretties. I bet you come up with some gorgeous ballgowns and hope you share a photo of them.

loutre10. Thanks for the info. I don't have a Cricut myself and wouldn't know what it does. But I bet there are loads of people that will give their eye teeth for one (OK not literally!)
