It might depend with that website, which browser you're using. Occasionally some sites aren't set up properly to be compatible with different browsers, so will only work in internet explorer / google chrome / firefox etc, or will someitmes work in all of the except 1. Pain in the bum! Much easier when it was pretty much just IE!Half of November Make £10 a Day Challenge: £51/ £1700

Apoogies if this is in the wrong place but:
ive got 2 pairs of jeans to repair
1 needs a new button as it pinged off when i put them on lol. ive seen these hammer on ones are they ok? i can sew but its not pretty
and also got a zip to do on another pair the slider has come off the other side so doesnt zip up, ive seen videos saying just take the bottom stopper off and slide it back on both sides is it really just that simple?
the jeans are perfect so makes sense repairing em
thanks in advanceSealed pot challenger # 10

After finishing my quilt I had twitchy fingers (I'm trying to wait before starting the next one) so I made covers for 2 draught excluders this weekend. Just a simple cover but they look loads better than the chewed and paint spattered covers they had before!0

The hammer on fasteners are fine. If you hit it hard enough.
The Zip, is worth having a go, but I usually just replace them. As you never know when they are going to go again.
Can usually buy them on the market stalls etc for around £1.20 sometimes cheaper. Metal fastening zips are best on the jeans. Stronger. Nylon tend to unravel if you are not too careful.
Best of luckWhen I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
you might even find a zip in some cheap stuff at car boot or jumble sale

Have been mooching through this thread for a few weeks and built up a fair few questions so figured I had better join in:D
I mostly sew quite heavy fabric (thick 1000d cotton with webbing straps) as I am forever repairing my pony's rugs. I have been using a toyota and a janome new home - between the two of them I have managed most things. Occasionallly I sew "nice things" such as making my mum an apron this Christmas and making adjustments to clothing for me and my nan (both short!).
However, these are on loan - I dont have a huge budget but would like my own machine - I wondered if I would be better looking at something like an older singer to tackle heavy duty stuff? Or better to stick with a more modern machine? I really only use the straight stitch and the zig zag stitch for stretchy sutff/embroidery.
Also, the janome appears to have suffered a little - when the needle hits the fabric, the whole needle arm goes wonky so the needle doesnt pierce material, just slides off - I cant find a "janome help" thing for spare parts, or even know what spare parts I would need!Anyone know what is poorly with it, or indeed where it could be fixed (Manchester area).
Lastly, I am making some keyrings for Christmas, and need some of the metal rings (like laces go through) does anyone know their technical name as I cant find any!
You don't say where in the Manchester area you are but the best (and only!) place I know for sewing machine servicing and repairs is Bamber Sewing Machines in Eccles - about 30 seconds drive from the M60 on the A62. Google it. It's a fab shop - they sell machines and have a showroom full of them, plus a haberdashery dept upstairs. I love it there.0 -
Hi can I join the sewing room please? I'm making Christmas decorations and adornments for my kiddies patchwork quilts at the moment.
Would anyone have a link to an elf costume for a dolly? Or even an elf rag doll?
Thank youBossymoo
