Ena Shaw's made the curtains for the Olympic Village - they're well known in St. Helens. The shop (not the factory shop) is quite pricey, but their goods are always top quality.

The bag has gone quite well - we've discussed the pattern and made it from paper. My material is striped, but my friend chose some fabric that has animal silhouettes on, so she had to cut out according to where the silhouettes were, so that one was in the middle (hope you understand what I mean).

We've cut out the fabrics and started stitching, and we've had a talk through everything. Next week we'll finish the stitching and will have to decide on our next project :)

I have put some on my blog showing the sewing baskets I have made. .

Rufus I've had a look, they are soooo nice. Like the idea to put the sewing bits and bobs in as well. Love the keyrings too :)
I also bought two metres of cream and blue fabric to make new cushion covers for my lounge - 50p a metre, as they were in the oddments section. Two triple valances (lined - I'm sure I can make something from them) for 50p a pack, and four metres of trimming @ 20p a metre!
I might go back for the £4.99 fabric - pink cotton with an Owl and !!!!!cat design. It's gorgeous, but i've no little girls to make cushions or soft furnishings for. I might just have to make one for me!

That sounds like a great price kingfisherblue for your material. The owl and cat design fabric sounds lovely. I've got a vision of it in my mind :)
I wish I could get to some sewing classes. I need all the help I can get :D
Would love to see a pic of your finished makes.

I went to Abakhan today. Yesterday they had a 25% off everything, today it was 20% and tomorrow it will be 15% if anyone lives near a store.
I bought some lovely teeny flower design material, 8 balls of rico cotton yarn and some wadding and baby material to make a play mat and a few other bits. Well I had to with 20% off...ho hum :D
Just got to get motivated now...

I can just about sew a straight line (sometimes!) and I'm getting good at unpicking :rotfl:, but uploading photos is a bit beyond me I'm afraid. I can ask my daughter if she can do it - she's far more able to do things like that than me :o. Actually, my 12 year old son can probably upload as well, so maybe I should add this to the list of things to learn :p

Tis a good job we don't have those shops anywhere near me, we wouldn't eat as I'd spend all our money in there!!
Kingfisher; once my dd taught me how to upload a photo it's quite easy. I use photobucket.

Good luck with the bag, sounds like your learning loads! That technique your friend had to use is called 'fussy cutting' :-)

Rufus, your baskets are gorgeous and practical too, :T I have commented. I'm Wag Doll on blogs. x

I use photobucket too to get photos online and on my blog. It'ss v easy once you know how and you can resize your pics cos mine come out of the camera HUGE!

This week I have been giving Morag a makeover. She had the same dress for many years and needed a new outfit, which I managed to piece together without buying anything:T

OOOh, a doll with my name...how exciting!!! She looks lovely pennib, wish I looked as good as her!!

Been very busy lately at work, but have nearly finished my first quilt. Will post piccies once I have finished it. It's a small one: 30"x30", for my lil'sis's first grandchild. It will probably be used as a playmat...might make a matching bag to put it in.

Lovely makes Rufus, seen all your makes on Fb :)

Well done on getting your new machine Kingfisher...Janome is a good make (I have recently started working in a sewing machine shop, so learning about loads of different machines). You will get so much out of the sewing classes, a great way to set you off into the world of sewing. Glad to see you have already started your fabric stash...it will grow amazingly quickly..just you watch!!

Right, need to go and make the week's worth of bread, then rinse out the fabrics I hand-dyed earlier in the week....can't wait to see what colours I get!!

Have a great weekend everyone xx
