WARNING IF YOU MACHINE QUILT please read
HI
i need to warn people if like me they are learning to machine quilt
I am on my second quilt and loving it
I was quilting yesterday on my brother 2125 that feeders don't drop
so you have to put a plate on top. Not sure what happened but needle broke and hit me in the eye, was in a right state because could'nt find the tip of needle. Well to cut a long story short found that on table and had a piece of needle in corner of eye.
everything is ok now but it could have been a lot worse.
I have been sewing for over 35 years and nothing like this has happened before
So my tip would be wear glasses even if you don't need them because if the needle hits the plate at speed its going to go somewhere.0 -
Hope your OK, and no major damage done! I have never ever had that happen either. Mind you I dont have my head down close to the machine. Because of my neck etc.
My hearts are now on my blog, for those who fancy a gander.
happy sewing. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -

Just popping back to thank you all again for the encouragement with my pattern adjusting. The dress is now finished :j:j:j.
It is just a very simple dress but I can't tell you how pleased I am, the sense of achievement is great.
The last time I made a dress it was for my, then teenaged, daughter, who of course wasn't a bit grateful and did nothing but grumble about it (although now I come to think about it, it didn't stop her wearing it again and again - kids!:o)
Thanks again for the hand-holding and advice - you lot rock. xxxxxxxxx0 -
Well done on the dress Bobbykins, bet you're well chuffed with yourself xx
Hart, lovely to see you back again, that heart block looks lovely, gorgeous fabrics too xx
Almond, sorry to hear about your accident, sounds terrifying. I was bad enough when I put the needle through my finger once. My machine will drop the feeders and I wear glasses anyway so should be ok. Dont know when I will have a go yet but will be soon.0 -
Well done Bobbykins! Can we see a photo?
Mooloo, your gingham hearts are sweet.
Rufusdog, your cushions as always are lovely.
Hart, I love your heart block.0 -

hi i am fine i know it sounded a bit over the top but i did'nt have head near machine just watched it fly towards me, was a bit of a shock but just wanted to warn anybody using these plates to watch what they are doing and not go to fast.0 -
Almond, what a horrible thing to have happened. You do have to be careful though, like rufusdog, I sewed my finger when someone distracted me, the needle broke when it went through my nail and I was in agony, stuck to the machine. I bet this happens a lot but a needle in the eye is awful.0
