Sorry I am still in zombie mode :D x

I was thinking of getting this one for my DD:
    http://www.dotcomgiftshop.com/deluxe-sewing-kit

It's reduced to £4.95 so cheaper, but it only has a small tin rather than the pink box.

WARNING IF YOU MACHINE QUILT please read

    HI
i need to warn people if like me they are learning to machine quilt
I am on my second quilt and loving it
I was quilting yesterday on my brother 2125 that feeders don't drop
so you have to put a plate on top. Not sure what happened but needle broke and hit me in the eye, was in a right state because could'nt find the tip of needle. Well to cut a long story short found that on table and had a piece of needle in corner of eye.
everything is ok now but it could have been a lot worse.
I have been sewing for over 35 years and nothing like this has happened before
So my tip would be wear glasses even if you don't need them because if the needle hits the plate at speed its going to go somewhere.
That happened to a machinist in a factory I was working in years ago. I always wear glasses now.

Having "hummed and haa'd" and eventually plucked up the courage to take a picture of my dress and having prepared for the embaressment of you expert sew-ers seeing my amateur attempt, I persuaded my lovely OH to get his camera out and I got ready to "pose" - (a supermodel I most certainly ain't :o)

Guess what - the battery is flat :mad:. He has put it on charge and I promise we will take a piccie tomorrow, then I'll have to figure out how to get it on here. thanks so much for your interest. :)

I agree, hart. It's interesting to photograph your work and see how far you've come. I know I always only see all the things I'm not happy with in my own work, whereas in something someone else has made, I don't see the details and look at the whole. The curse of perfectionism!!

    Happy Birthday!!! :j:j:j:j:bdaycake:

Life just gets better after the big 50!!!!!!!! Hope you have a good day and are planning a celebration soon.

  • Happy Birthday Hart! Bobbykins, I haven't sewed for quite a few years now and last night I finished my first dress which I wore to work today and got sooo many compliments. I'm quite thrilled with the outcome and although I can see the mistakes, the overall look is good and I know now what I can do differently the next time I make it. I'll get hubby to take a photo of me wearing it at the weekend and post mine on here too. G ot to finish knitting daughter's aran now or it'll be summer before it's finished!

It's a curse indeed! But you're right, when you look at photographs and see the progress it's a real help. But when people see the photo and say "wow did you make that?" I have to bite my tongue to stop myself pointing out all the bits that aren't quite right.
