I am making my bias binding for my bunting. Do you sew it on in the correct way - one side then turn and stitch the other side? I have a book that says - slide the flags into the binding and stitch.

I never thought of making binding with it. Good idea. Thanks

You sew on the folded under bit right sides together on the right side of your project then fold it over and sew the other side.

    This might help you.

When I make the flags, I tend to just slide the fabric into the bias, fold it over in half and stitch it. So much quicker.! Not the same with clothes of course, do it the old fashioned way then.
Just home from visiting my grandsons. Always makes me sad.
I shall go and blog hop now. I havent been on the blogs for a little while.
Not sure my arm is up to sewing yet. Left my last lot of makes at the Nursery school for the staff to take a look at it. See if I can get a sniff there, as I lost the shop when it has changed hands. Hes going to be doing jewellry. (My initial thought is I can make display stuff, and jewellry rolls, but as he tore up my businesscard and price list before I had even left the shop, I thought I wouldnt bother!).
I have used poly cotton a lot. I use it for the clothes that I make DGD etc.
Mind you I will use any fabrics. I am just like that!. LOve fabric except chiffon. It is beautiful but it makes my skin crawl! When making wedding dresses etc Chiffon/organza really made me feel all creepy crawly, I hated that part of it.!

Pootle I have added your blog to my list and will be an avid follower now. So many lovely makes. Your putting me to shame.
Found you on fb as well. But cannot work out how to copy the button. (others on my page were done by my daughter as I am useless at it. At the moment, but I will learn, I will. Whats that saying? If at first you dont succeed, try, try and try again!. Bit like my sewing.
    Back to blog hopping.

Thanks Mooloo. Im definately not putting you to shame! You are far more talented than me!! You dont have to do the button thing. Ill try and paste an HTML beside it so that it makes it easier then you just need to click add HTML and paste the code in.

Anyway, dont want to hijack the thread because of my giveaway so Ill scoot off now!!

    Hi Lesley

Thanks for that. Just mailed you. You have done all 4 things so can you leave another 3 comments so that you go into the "hat" 4 times and not just once!
Your table runner is lovely. I was having a nosey at it yesterday.

Ive been trying to sort through all my fabric and realised that alot of it is polycotton. Anyone got any ideas on what to make with it? As its thinner than 100% cotton, I dont find it does well with iron on interfacing so at a loss as to what to do with it all! Ive used it before with the sew in stuff but I still think it looks quite thin even though its patterned. Shouldnt have bought the damn stuff! xx

Is it no good for lining??

What about some yoyos to decorate your bags or sew onto hairclips? Or there are lots of fabric flower tutorials about.

Otherwise little drawstring gift bags - might be popular with Christmas coming up. you could applique a little picture on the front.

I stitch all my flags on one side, then flip it over, fold it and sew in half :)

    Seems to work quite well.

Thanks Tamster and Florence. Might try yoyo's. Never attempted them yet.

Evansangel, Definately Olfa IMO. Would personally go for 45mm blade. Ive got this one which has a safety catch so the blade is locked away when not in use. Its great. You can also get pinking blades for it. You can get cheap replacement blades on ebay if you need them too.

I cannot get to grips with my rotary cutters at all! I am not very good and always need to go back and use scissors over most of it! Must practise. Might be to do with my trouble with my arms of course!
