Morning. I managed to make my DGD a dress last night, out of a duvet cover. Just need to put some button holes on it and its finished. She seems to like it, and then asked where the hat was to go with it. So I will be digging out the pattern for the hat and making one, as luckily it coming from a duvet cover there are lots of it still left over.!
Been tracing out the "frilly diaper" pattern that I bought the PDF for a while ago, so that I can try to make something for the other DGD.
I have a lovely american book on Handsewn projects. Really anything can be hand sewn, that can be machine sewn, its just more time consuming, and you need to use a lot of backstitch on seams to keep them strong. But I will get the book out and see if I can give some inspiration, but for now its time to go to the post office and post of the childrens apron that sold yesterday.

I bought Sew magazine this month. I had been waiting for ages for it to come out as the newsagent still had last month's magazine on the shelves. Finally I looked in my copy from last month and the August issue was due for release on July 15th. So I looked in the newsagent and the magazine was the new one but the free pattern was the same one as July! I bought it before checking my pattern at home, but I rang the company (Future Publishing) and their automated message says that every issue has gone out with last month's pattern in it.
They're sending me the pattern that SHOULD have been on the August issue.0 -
Thanks Pootle for the info and links on Fusible fleece, the cotton wadding sounds much better than polyester wadding which I've used the past and really made my hands sore
Noobmum, wow your bags are fab! Love the funky lining in the demure laptop bag
Keiss, good luck on the craft shop meeting, hope its something good for you!
Abatha your dolls are v cute, and hart love that purse tutorial.
Apologies if I've missed anyone's makes, I need to come on here more often!
Florence, not sure I've ever seen pattern repeat info on the ikea website, you could try ringing up and asking to be put through to that department, the info should be on the selvedge of the fabric rolls like normal?0 -

laugh, when I had my Sew Mag the month before, I subscribe, the pattern was the month afters! So we had the maxi dress pattern instructions with the shorter dress for the following months pattern. But when they sent us out the last issue we didnt get any patterns, becuase they posted the correct pattern out, after I had emailed them and told them. Laura Cruickshank, the Editor replied to me immediately, and when I had made the maxi dress, which was the dress I made for my birthday, I sent her an email with the picture, and she was good enough to reply to me.
I have been getting my other magazines I subscribe to the last few days so the newest edition should be out very soon! Goody more makes.
Todays Making Magazine ( Octobers issue!12?) has a mini dress in it, that I really like, but I would have to make it a bit longer, what with my age etc. But they gave a full size pattern for the dress main piece but then you have to photocopy and enlarge the facings, pockets and collars from a page inside the book!!! Which is so frustrating as my photocopier just photocopies, it doesnt do enlarging! Otherwise I would have had the dress cut out and made today!
Instead I have cut out a pair of broidery anglaise diaper covers for DGD2. I wanted to go and sew but DGD wouldnt let me go up to the sewing room.
I did my cutting out downstairs at the dinning room table. But unless I bring the sewing machine down here, I am not going to be able to do anything until she is in bed now.
It looks like I may have to make up the facings and the collars myself, and guestimate, if I want to make it. :eek:When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
