Lovely outfit Noob Mum xx and I love the butterfly key rings Miss Pixie xx

I have finished the quilt I was making, there are some pics on my blog. I have added it to my shop. I have now made a start on the play mat, I started piecing together some squares that were cut out but I got too tired and hungry in the end so have left it until tomorrow to do a bit more. I am thinking of trying to machine quilt this little quilt instead of hand sewing as I really want to get the hang of it and it would be ideal to try it on something small.

Lovely makes everyone. I still didnt get to sew today. But have decided that one of my pillowcases, may just have to be made into a dress for one of the grandchildren. Its just too 60's for the bed!. Biggest of Mooloo likes the start i have made on her baby's pants. Lets hope I get the oportunity to sew when I get back on Sunday evening. Alas been babysitting the new baby today, so my arms really quite sore, and my neck is complaining too. So doing sewing would really just be stupid.
The apron that I posted out yesterday was recieved this morning, and seemed to be appreciated, dispite not having seen a picture of it. So thats a good one.
Just need to get a few different ones made, and see if we can get the mums at the Nursery interested at the beginning of the term.
Also some things for the babyfair they are having in September. If I can get a few bits for samples put together then I may be in for a chance of more seeing my work then just the odd few who know me now.

    Thank you all :)

I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the best way to mend a skirt.

It is my grandmas skirt it is elasticated at the top along one of the seams is a small tear but it has started to run down the skirt almost like a ladder. It is not the seam itself that has come open but it is directly next to it. I have never done this before but I would like to try fix it for her if I can if I can't do it she said I can have it for the fabric though!

I found this on ebay :o is it the sort you are looking for?

Thank you. The vintage ribbon was just the sort of tradional trim I'm looking for as it is to trim something with a bit of hand embroidery.

    Hi all

Mooloo have seen your message on FB and answered.

Keiss Have a good time. I was going to go this year but couldn't afford it in the end. Am going to save up so I can go next year.

Managed to spend most of yesterday sewing. Have made 2 more small wall hangings to go on Folksy and a large messenger bag from a couple of cushion covers and some Ikea fabric. Will post some piccies later. ( not as good as the one posted earlier.......which is gorgeous by the way)

I had a lot of problems with my machine and the thread gept snagging and then it all seemed to lock up so the air was very blue as wanted to get the bag finished. In the end i took the plates off and gave it a clean. Well you have never seen so much fluff!!!!!! Anyway it is all working wonderfully now so I guess the moral is clean your machine regularly.

Hi, mending the skirt will depend on the type of fabric that it is. Obviously it has been some sort of knitted fabric rather then woven, to cause a ladder.
You will need to stop the ladder from going anyfurther for a start. If its quite a dense fabric, then you may be able to find the last stitch that is loose, and then using a fine crochet hook,or similar, you may be able to pick up the stitches, and work your way up the ladder,. If thats not possible, it will depend on how wide the ladder is.
If its not very wide, then you can find a matching thread, and taking it from the bottom of the ladder again, slowly take a stitch through the bottom of the ladder, and then take a small stitch through each of the sides of the ladder, and slipstitch all the way up the ladder.
If the garment is very wide, then it may be possible to take the seam in a little at the top of the ladder, to help strengthen it, and to reduce the risk of it undoing further and wider.
You could also put some interfacing on the back of the ladder, to stabilise it.
Hope that this helps, but without seeing the actual skirt I am just working blind with it.
