It is from a book: The Bag Making Bible by Lisa Lam. She has her own website where you can buy all the bits and pieces to make bags, fastenings, interlinings etc. her book is good, though could do with a better layout. It took me a while to work my way round it, as I haven't made many large bags before (a couple when a teenager - eons ago!), so had to read through all the techniques carefully.
I agree, the Bag Making Bible is great! The instructions were simple yet detailed, quite easy to understand.
Here's the reversible bucket bag I've made by following the tutorial in the book:
I have also made the laptop bag you've posted earlier0 -
Welcome to the thread Noob Mum, that bag is gorgeous! I'd love to see a photo of the laptop bag (and anything else you've made).
Pootle, what a cute owl doorstop!0 -

Thanks Georgiabay! Here's the laptop bag as requested. I made this bag for my bestie living abroad.
What I didn't tell her, was the naughty surprise I had for her inside
Will post photos of other stuff next time0 -
Keiss your bag is absolutely gorgeous! The fabric, colour combination, attention to detail, everything, love it!
What is fusable fleece? Is it like interfacing but fluffy?
Pootle, love your cutey-pie owl, he's lovely.
Welcome, Noob mum! :TPootleFlump wrote: »Keiss, which fusible fleece did you use? Ive got H630 and H640 but havent used the H640 in any bags as it looks awfully thick and Im too scared to attempt it then have things go wrong! The H630 works well with bags and doesnt clog up the layers too much.
Avstar its like cotton wadding but you use a damp cloth with an iron to make it stick to the fabric so if you are doing pleats and stuff its much easier to manoevre. Its quite expensive but much nicer to use than polyester wadding which Ive used in the past and absolutely detest sewing with! I get mine from here as was the cheapest I could find but if anyone knows of where you can get it cheaper please could you post a link?
Welcome to the thread Noob Mum. x
Noob Mum, love the reversible bag, and would also like to see your laptop bag..oooh just scrolled down and have seen it...wonderfull!!! Love the surprise of the bright lining, well done!! :T:T
Still new to this bag-making lark, but enjoying it so far. Think I might have a look at my fabrics again this afternoon to work out what bag I will make next. I've been away for three weeks and can't remember what I've got!!

I don't usually post but I really enjoy looking at all the items that everone makes.
No good at quoting but Hart I know that two of the fabrics for that quilt are Laura Ashley because I have just made some needlecases for myself from some scraps left from the Moses basket liner I made for my daughter over 25 years ago!0 -
Welcome again Noob Mum! I just bought the Bag Making Bible, and have yet to make anything from it. But seeing your lovely makes I will have to get making again.
This evening I should already be upstairs making something thats already been cut out, but have been flitting from here, facebook, and peoples blogs and web links. Then the time has gone. 1 1/2 hours of it!!! EEk With the help of my eldest Daughter we have put a few of my bits onto my mooloos website. I am hoping that it will work. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0 -
Lovely bags mooloo, especially the satchel one..you have been busy!!!
I really need to get a move on and work out what I want to make and go ahead and do it.
DS1 has disappeared off for about a week to his GF's and he has said I can use his bedroom, so will get set up in there tomorrow...infact I might start taking things in tonight..more time for cutting and sewing tomorrow then :j
I am meeting up with the owner of a craft centre next Monday to discuss what exactly she wants me to do for her (computer work of some sort). I still can't believe she wants to offer me a job!
Off to the Festival of Quilts on Saturday, so a busy few days. Planning on looking more than spending at the NEC...at least that is the idea! Will be dyeing some cotton squares next Tuesday with my quilting group, so lots of crafting going on! Think I will choose colours that will go with some patterened fabric I have, so I can use them together.
Right, off to strip DS1's bed and get some of my stuff in!
Night, night all.

Thanks Keiss, I wouldnt have been able to do it, if Rufusdog hadnt helped me.
Didnt get to sew last night, as My arm was just too bad, but as it was from holding DGD2, I suppose its not surprising, and I dont mind. She is such a cutypie.
Perhaps I will be up to sewing later.
Happy sewing everyone. When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.0
