Decluttering and the decorating is my mission for this year. I have an enforced de-clutter of the kitchen pending as we are getting a new one installed on the 11th January and everything has to be removed for the contractors to start.

    Living room will follow......
I have today de-cluttered 3 drawer unit in the living room with the result being two empty drawers :T these will be useful during the kitchen re-fit for knives/forks etc and dried foods etc

Tomorrow I have my eye on two paperwork drawers in the kitchen ....they have been warned....!!!

  • Definitely want to join in - my house/finances/weight/life is a mess and 2010 is the year I am going to sort it all out.

Plan on starting Jan 3rd, when the kids go back to school. Think I'll start making a list now though....

you're not the only one - i couldn't have put it better myself!
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j
  • Well I've made a start! Our wheelie bin was half full this morning and I soon filled it with rubbish from the attic cupboard, why did I ever keep this stuff? Anyway bin is due to be emptied tomorrow so I will throw away more rubbish after that (I'm working Wednesday and Thursday so it will have to wait till after that).

I have filled a couple of carrier bags with books that can go to the charity book bin in Sainsburys car park and two of clothes for the charity bins. I'll try to drop these off on Friday.

I've posted some bodyboards on freecycle and am about to post a box of photo frames. Not sure if anyone will want these but I might as well give it a go. If I get no response I will take them to the charity shop next week.

Things I found that we can use or wanted to see: OH's walking boots, sugar bowl (I knew we had a unbroken one somewhere) and favourite photos of DS taken 18 years ago.

I am happy with this start as I was hampered by my cold and the WET weather. :T

I'd like to join in again for 2010!
This thread definitely helped me last year - my tiny house was looking almost decent, and everything was rehomed, rather than going to landfill. However due to a set of weird events, the house is full again with tonnes of paperwork and loads of furniture!
I promise I will get going in January! Good luck everyone!

  • My "rid the house of 5 items per day" challenge started and saw me taking to the Charity shop: 2 x books, 2 x pairs of children's shoes and 1 top I had never worn. Tomorrow's 5 items have also been selected and bagged.
    Start Date: 27/11/2010
    Padding: Day 42
    Target £8000
    Amount: £562.23
  • All our Christmas decorations came down today, and as I am hoping to be in a new house for next Christmas, I have taken the chance to cull some of the things that are looking a bit tired, or just don't 'do it' for me any more. I'm going to go through the boxes again tomorrow & try to reduce the Christmas stuff to two boxes if I can.

Also ... have filled up a couple of carrier bags with things for the charity shop ... including a digital photo frame that we were given LAST CHRISTMAS still unused & in its box - I never liked it & dh never got round to setting it up, so it has gone (shhh - don't tell dh!).

A slower than hoped for start here, due to there being no rubbish collection until 4th Jan, and me being without a car, so unable to get to the tip or charity shop.....

In: New football boots for DS

Out: sorted 3 drawers in the filing cabinet and most of it was either rubbish or out of date bank statements/house insurance etc for shredding.
    One bag general household rubbish
Recycling, including packaging from Christmas presents, Christmas cards etc.
Made dinner with leftover turkey and parsnips from Christmas day.

I also decluttered two bags of chocolate covered brazil nuts and two part boxes of biscuits :o Well, I need the worktop space.........;)

  • Love the idea of throwing away set amount each day. Sadly I think 100/day would be possible in our house for at least a couple of weeks.

    OUT
    Cat litter and household rubbish.

    IN
    Milk! :)

Does anyone have a link to the no new toiletries thread? - I have a stupid amount that I NEED to use first.

    TIA
    Put the kettle on. ;)
