  • Hi everyone,

This brilliant challenge was originally set up by charlies_mum.

I hope you'll understand, but the eiquette is to invite the OP of an existing thread to begin a new one.

In this instance, I'll merge this thread to the 2010 one and PM charlie's mum to see if she would like to start one for the new year :)

    109.110. Rubbish from bedroom (bin)
    111. Nails Inc nail polish (friend)
    112.113. Make up brushes (friend)

    124.125. Stationery (charity)
    126.127. Recycling/envelopes (recycling)
    128. Manky old toothpaste (bin)

Up to 141 bits decluttered as above. Dropped 2 bags off to the charity shop, yay outta my house and money for them.

Blitzed the understairs cupboard this evening. Couldn't keep a detailed tally as got rid of so much but it broke down as:
16 x items for the bin (general tat)
29 x items for recycling (loads of old brochures and stuff)
20 x items for charity (books, unwanted gifts, old photo frames etc etc)

So that's a total of 65 things decluttered from the understairs cupboard, and it's still not done!

This brings my total decluttered so far this week to 206 items. Blimey. Keep getting embarrassed at how bad this is, but I can't get stuck in that frame of mind. I have to clear it out. Still a way to go for me to reach my target of 500 things by this Saturday. Wish me luck.

How are you getting on mineallmine? Edit - just read your update - GOOD LUCK, you are doing really well!

Hi to everyone who's joined due to the thread merger! :)

    In

Two books, diary, two CDs, PC game, make up gift set, cushion, fleece throw, necklace and a cooking related hamper - all xmas gifts.

Also went a bit mad in the online sales and ordered two tops, trousers, fleece jacket, skirt and bag, plus an exercise DVD as I've turned into an anti exercise scoffing monster and we still have so much food left... going to invite a few people round soon to try and get rid of some of it! I cannot fit any more food into the pantry, will only be buying fresh food for the foreseeable future!

I'll have a go at getting rid of a few more things by the weekend to try and atone for the 'Ins', total so far...

1 & 2 - Face cream and body lotion pots recycled
3 & 4 - Two lots of plastic packaging recycled
5 - Top into charity bag
6 & 7 - Broken power supply unit from pc and old chopping board to be taken to tip
8 - Curling tongs given to sister, as I've never used them
9 & 10 - Jars of homemade jam given to Mum and Gran
11 - Shoes being returned to shop tomorrow for refund
12 - Steamer to be returned to online store, need to get pre paid label printed out (OH asked for steamer for xmas which my Mum bought for him, turned out he wanted one for the hob, not an electric one! Gah!)

    Will have another go tomorrow...

  • hi everyone
had a good sort out today in the small bedroom, this had become a dumping area over xmas, so have put all pressies away, sorted two bags of unwanted gifts to pass onto my mum who uses them for raffle prizes throughout the year, have bag of carrier bags to take to tesco for recyling and threw out various bits and bobs such as packaging for gifts etc. Room is now back to normal
If anyone is looking for inspiration to de clutter then try and watch an episode of buried alive - its usa show about people who compulsively hoard stuff and have professional help to get them to change - its very sad as their lives are on hold due to the amoun of stuff they have
will be keeping with this thread throughout 2011 have dipped in and out through the year - my weak area are my draws and wardrobe - tend to shove stuff int them including paperwork and general "stuff" so that its out of sight, trouble is can never find anything then. Have a day to myself tomorrow so will tackle some of my draws
trying hard to be debt free by the end of 2010
