so glad i found and started reading this thread again, did try to declutter at start of this yr but have got more clutter than ever! And no where to put the boys' xmas pressies, even the roof is full to capacity lol.

Have decided to sort it out in 2011, but made a small start today, organised my half of the wardrobe, chucked out expired medicines tut tut and sorted thru my toiletries, went mad in body shop sale recently, had a huge storage tub to put in roof with it all in, including 20 body butters! Have written down what is in tub so i don't buy anymore and can just pop up into atic to get something. At bottom of wardrobe found my last 2 pairs of size 12 jeans i couldn't fit into two months ago = and now i can hooray! Goint to start small and concentrate on one area a day if i can, under bed drawers tomorrow i think. Night all.

  • Well they say look for one thing and you'll find another I was searching for my building society book (not a lot in it as its an old one but I thought I would dig it out and transfer the amount to a different account) I didn't find it but I did find the B&Q voucher that I had bought as a present for a gardening friend for his birthday and promptly lost in the run up to Christmas.I went out and bought another to replace it and blow me down if I didn't find the original one tonight. Now all I have to do is think of something I want to spend £15.00 on in B&Q's in the next year.Oh well at least I found it.haven't found the BS book yet though.I do have a tendency to tuck things away for safe keeping then forget where I have tucked them .creeping old age I think.:):):):)

Is there a new thread for decluttering in 2011?

  • I have been decluttering over the past few days, and am very pleased with the amount I have been able to clear out. The recycling bin is full now, and only emptied on Monday. I have put out metal tins etc for scrap metal men. Got rid of old cushions and pillows etc, and cleared a number of shelves too. I think I have definately done the 100 items this week. I just need to keep motivated.

    Hi everyone,

This brilliant challenge was originally set up by charlies_mum. Here's her original post:-

    Hi Everyone

Well, the decluttering continues, with some of us being much more successful than others (me) :o and MoneyMaker has suggested a new thread for the new year. Perhaps some clever person could link this one to the old thread please.

Anyway, maybe 2010 will be year when I finally get decluttered, but don't hold your breath :D

Good luck to everyone, and a very Happy New Year

Once again, perhaps some clever person could link this one to the old thread please.

    So...
    - Are you ready to declutter?
    - Are you fed up of buying duplicates of things you can't find? :o
    - Are you able to invite friends or family around at the drop of a hat? Not me, that'd be a state of emergency requiring days to prepare!

In 2010 I got rid of about 1,500 "things". A thing could be a magazine or a piece of furniture! Several bouts of illness for me and OH meant our home was bottom of the list of priorities which is partly why things became so cluttered. I lost my young best friend to cancer earlier this year and this inspired me to get rid of so much and donate it to the local hospice charity shop. But the job isn't complete - I still have so much to do.

Who's up for clearing their home of clutter in 2011? :j

  • I've been waiting for the 2011 thread to make an appearance :) We are expecting our second child in June & I need to do some decluttering before then, get right back to what we really need & use as too much just sits in draws, wardrobes etc or the loft gathering dust.
