I think I need to join too, we are a family of 5 in a 2-bedroom house, and it really needs decluttering!!

The first job is my wardrobe, that's the usual dumping ground, and the exercise bike has to be in front of the door to keep it closed since xmas:eek:

Therefore, my personal challenge this week is to sort out my bedroom, and find all the stuff in my cupboard that is bagged and ready for ebay and actually list it:rotfl:

    SO,
    IN:
All the Xmas Gear from Santa and family
    Out:
Boys unplayed with toys, and (Ebay)
Boys clothes that don't fit (Ebay)
Junk from my cupboard of doom (probably the tip)

Thanks for this thread, Kalojac x
  • My plan today is to definately sort out the pile of papers and god knows what on the lounge floor, and then if i'm feeling up to it after this, continue the filing mission on the dining table. I think once this has been done (properly, not shoved in a cupboard) the rest of my hotspots will feel more manageable.

Would love to have cleared out the Cupboard Under The Stairs before i go back to work on the 4th! EEEEK!!!

    Oooohhhh... I'll be in again!!!

I have a 5 bedroomed/3 reception roomed dustbin in which I live with my OH, 7 children, 6 cats, 2 rabbits and 3 fish.

The cats make most mess.. one drags all the hay from the rabbits hay ball on to the floor. In the last 12 hours they have brought home 5!!!!! mice!

    In

    5 mice!! lol
    2 letters

    Out

    5 mice.. 4 were dead
    2 letters
box lid... with a dead mouse on it!
    1 bag composting

I love the idea of 100 things flung in 10 days... Over on the flylady thread (spam spam spam spam lol...) we do 'binbag dances' .. race around like a nutter filling a binbag to fling!.. 60 in 60.. chuck 60 things in 60 minutes.. These make a massive difference to the state of the place!

I have a huge Next sale order coming at some point.. and a fairly large Lakeland order.. mainly bits for the children/presents for next year .. but it will all need to be restashed. MY OH moved in here at the end of September and we still need to rehome all his stuff.. currently in boxes on the bedroom floor in front of the radiator so we don't have it turned on so it is FREEZING in here.. MUST deal with that.

I am signed off sick from anything more strenuous than sitting on my bottom so not much is getting done but give me a week or 2 and I shall be back on track with a venegence!

Hello, I'd like to join in too.

I have mountains of paperwork shoved in drawers, cupboards, bags and baskets that need shredding, sorting, filing and dumping.

I also have a spare room, which my son moved out of 9 months ago after a huge row, which is full of stuff/junk. Most of it is my sons but my DH's idea of tidying up is to open the bedroom door and chuck in our junk so 'It's not lying around' then close the door swiftly and forget about it. I find it difficult going into the room at all as it reminds me of my son and i get upset so i'm not sure how or where to start with that.

Out - Black bag of rubbish which DH had to put in the skip at his work as our bin not been emptied due to snow! And he was too lazy to drag bin to top of road. Hmmm.

In - 2 letters which will shortly be going back out to the paper bin.

Well, i've been feeling inspired for the last few days.....

    IN:
    post
wrapping paper and xmas cards for next year bought in the sales
    3 birthday presents
2 x toiletries (might have to join the challenge to not buy any more for a while - i've got tons of the stuf)

    OUT:
finished bits up in the fridge
    3 bin bags of rubbish

    PENDING OUT

huge box of stuff for the charity shop
small bag of clothes for friend

I think my next steps are to:
    • finish the shredding
    • clear out my makeup
    • clear out my shoes
    • clear out my handbags
    • tackle the drawer in the bottom of the wardrobe (eek!)
    God luck everyone!

  • Oh dear, I am a new girl here and cant even formulate a correct reply I fear. Apologies (and grateful for advice). Just wanted to tell heavenleigh that there is light at the end of the tunnel. My daughter is on her own with 3 clutter making boys, and though the house is manic, it is filled with love. Thats what your children will remember. When it all gets too much, the de clutter fairy (me) goes around every now and then to give her a hand mind! You will have someone like that to give you an initial push, and when you see things coming together it will give you strength to sort other things in your life.
