The Great Declutter Part 2

  • I think need to join this challenge... after being quite efficient a couple of years ago in getting our paperwork into a filing cabinet I need a kick up the backside to clear up the cupboard under the stairs and our spare bedroom as well as sorting out the wardrobes.

    Goals:
Make enough room in cupboard under stairs for the 5 boxes of wine arriving in a fortnight
Clear out spare room so we'll be able to fit a bed in there for visitors
Declutter wardrobe in preparation for a new one! :j

    So for today
    IN
2 mangos & a fruit selection for desert tomorrow

    Pending OUT
Bin bag of cardboard for tip
Bag of other stuff for tip
Bag of stuff for charity shop
2 bags, old computer joystick, switch & webcam on ebay - anything not sold goes to charity shop

Plan for tomorrow: finish decluttering cupboard under stairs so that I can rearrange it to be more efficiently organised
  • i have started by decluttering my e-mails - none are now unread and many have been deleted. So pleased was i that i continued and decluttered my favourites on the computer.

Now i have to start the physical decluttering...but a charity bag came through the door today...so I have an incentive to make a start!
    :jFlylady and proud of it:j

OH took the numerous black bin bags of assorted rubbish to put in their commercial wheelie bin at work today, as our normal bin collection doesn't happen for another week or so

    So:

    In: bank statement
    basic groceries

Out: 6 bin bags of assorted rubbish
    bag of shredding
broken coffee maker, OH old fleece from a place he worked at 10 years ago, numerous broken pairs of glasses
One charity bag of clothes from DD's bedroom
    bank statement in shredder
any makeup not used in last 12 months
assorted jars/packets of dried herbs/seeds/nuts that went out of date in about 2003 and are never likely to get used.

Also.....and it is really tough......I am continuing to declutter the Christmas biscuits.....;)

In post 1 Thank you card (will only keep for 1 week then recycle)
    2 Bills
    all envelopes binned or recycled
1 Pummeler for making cocktails I have wanted one of these for a while.

Out Sorted 3 drawers 3 carrier bags of rubbish/recycling out

Its very theraputic getting rid of stuff you dont need/want anymore
  • I'm inspired!

    Over the last 2 days:
    OUT
    2 bin bags of recyling - paper/plastics
    1 bin bag of clothes
    Broken TV
    PENDING
1 large M&S bag of clothes on ebay hopefully selling and if not them freecycling!
    LOFT
    Sentimental models cars
    Fancy dress items for drama

    Areas decluttered:
Dining room unit made room for christmas presents
Bookcase - magazines out and books put away properly
    Coffee table usable again
    Bedside table cleared
    Wardrobe and chest of drawers
    Allotment seed box

TO DO before the new year comes in...ne year new start and all that!
    Rest of bedroom
Tidy up in lounge following the coffee table/bookcase declutter :o
Dining room - actually take the decluttered stuff out!
  • I've just sorted through my 3 clothes drawers (still got the wardrobe to go!) and have now got 2 bags of stuff I'll not wear again to go to the charity shop and some stuff which is neither use nor ornament which will be rags for our friends while they fix their bikes! End result is that I have actually gained a drawer, which DH will use now. I feel good about myself (other than the cold, anyway)

Also found a shirt I haven't worn in ages which will be perfect for New Year's Eve - all it needs is an iron, and I'll do that in the morning :) Now, looking at my bookshelf I can see quite a few titles which will head for the charity shop (looking online I won't get a lot back for them :( ) - only trouble is that I have quite a few cookbooks and I really doubt I'll be able to part with any of them!

I'd never thought about deleting emails as "decluttering"......but having seen it on here, I have been inspired to delete almost 1000 emails, mostly unread, from my inbox - just leaving me with the few that I really need!

    I'm learning :rotfl:

    Mortgage-free Glee!
Yay! I now have a clean, clear and polished bedside table and a few less clothes etc piled on the bedroom chairs. Not a lot, but a definite improvement.
    Resolution:
    Think twice before spending anything!
