Desperately need to get rid of stuff so that house is easier to deal with and so that I feel emotionally lighter, lol!

    Hi Angela,

That makes sense to me: tidy clean house = tidy less stressed alison with space in my head for other things!

I have been more ruthless today - i haven't kept things that 'might' get around to being used, or toiletires that i don't like that were given as gifts - its all going. :D

    Good luck!

OH took the numerous black bin bags of assorted rubbish to put in their commercial wheelie bin at work today, as our normal bin collection doesn't happen for another week or so

    So:

    In: bank statement
    basic groceries

Out: 6 bin bags of assorted rubbish
    bag of shredding
broken coffee maker, OH old fleece from a place he worked at 10 years ago, numerous broken pairs of glasses
One charity bag of clothes from DD's bedroom
    bank statement in shredder
any makeup not used in last 12 months
assorted jars/packets of dried herbs/seeds/nuts that went out of date in about 2003 and are never likely to get used.

Also.....and it is really tough......I am continuing to declutter the Christmas biscuits.....;)

Hypno, I'm sure we have lots of christmas crisps and chocolates to 'declutter' too! So much for slimming world......

  • Hi, i often posted in the last thread, but this year i'm going to get the house & garage sorted, been to IKEA today and bought 12 yes 12!! different sized storage boxes for my photos and other sentimental things ;). Did sort out my wedding cards yesterday (been married 7 yrs, in 2010) i recycled them all, decided ive only looked at them all twice so really as sentimental as they are (all 200+) of them, they take up valueable space so off they went. I also have 2 mahoosive memory boxes for my DD's, that ive decided to scale down, cards, christening presents, nursery drawing and all sorts like that, cos im thinking will they really want ALL of that stuff?? (what do you think??) ive also sorted some toys for the CS, really nice stuff, that my girls are just out-growing really, going to sort out all my old birthday, anniversary and other cards out too, i mean me & DH, have been together 14yrs so ive got a few :D. So hopefully tomorrow i will see some space i'll keep posting and let you all know, fingers crossed:whistle:.

Ooo! Can I join in, please? There are just the two of us (and our ancient dog) but lots of hobbies/interests each of which gathers 'stuff' plus all the normal clutter. We're in a residential caravan so space is at a definite premium!!

I put a bag in the corner of the wardrobe to place some Christmas gifts that need . . . ummm..... re-gifting so that will be my start. Everything needs to be gone through though, especially the kitchen, wardrobe in our bedroom and the wardrobe in the spare room.

All excited now :D will have to go back to the old thread and see what others have done . . . . and if there are any sort of guidelines or 'rules'. Want to play nicely, me :rotfl:

Id also like to join in if I may? Have got lots of stuff all over the place, so desperately need to do something about it all.

Have potted about a bit today (mainly rubbish) but the big effort will begin on New Years Day.

    Thanks for starting this thread

In the interests of decluttering I have done an audit of my toiletries - it's amazing how much i've got! I've joined the toiletries challenge for 2010 and won't be buying any more until i've used up what i've got!
