managed to lug the box of bits i'd colleced together along with the unsold christmas cards and a couple of cookbooks down to church tonight - no mean feat staggering and sliding on the ice but at least they are now safely locked to the church store ready for the table top sale and not scattered around my house:T

Noooo dont feel pathetic - goodness knows its a mountain to climb. Currently I am between contracts, just finished one and waiting for the next one to start so I have the time to do this, and goodness knows it is LONG overdue ;)

I started with my sons bedrooms only because DS2 who is an almost teenager needed biohazard warnings all over the doorframe! He finds it difficult to keep things tidy, as gravity really does work and he has proved it when his clothes stay on the floor where they were dropped :rotfl:His point was he found it difficult to tidy because it was such a mess and so decluttering was the only way to go!

Once I had done the pit of doom (with his help - he didnt get away scot free!!) it made such a difference that I was motivated to keep moving around the house. The problem is as women we feel that we should be able to do everything, hold down a job, be the perfect mother and keep a Laura Ashley house and when we fail to do that we pile on the guilt. There are very few people in this world that I know are able to do that and being honest the ones that can usually have lots and lots of help. We all prioritise the things that are important (to me its my kids, making sure they eat well and have someone to talkto about their day) and things like decluttering the house fall by the wayside. There is nothing wrong with that, we just all need to realise that actually everyone else has the same issues and stop beating ourselves up about it - there are plenty that will put you down without you doing it yourself!

I have posted on here that there are 365 days in 2010 and currently we are only 13 days into it so everyone has plenty of time to get around their own houses in their own time, its not a race and the idea is to keep up the decluttering once you have done the initial blitz, that way hopefully we wont be doing the same things on next years thread

I know for me, once I have done the first lot, I think I will have to go around again and declutter the bits that I have kept or that have crept through the door whilst I wasnt looking, so chin up ladies and gents and settle yourselves in because we are all here to help each other :T

  • The recycling bins have been emptied before I came out for work:j

They have been returned to the porch ready for me to start filling when I shut the shop for half day at 1pm.
  • Yesterday I was working both jobs but still managed 1 bag of DDs craft/art bits sorted, culled & put in correct cupboard - what will I manage today with no work?

Still a bit keen because I am new to this but it does feel good
