  • So, on the way out to McDonalds I clocked the bag of stuff I'd cleared out of my bedroom earlier and a bag of toiletries I'd cleared out of the bathroom a couple of days ago which I'd listed on freegle but had no responses - grabbed them both and chucked in the wheelie bin, along with broken toaster - so today hassn't been a total waste after all :j

Sadly, decluttered purse of almost a tenner too, but saved me cooking and got us out of the house for an hour too, so money well spent I reckon :T

Not really done much today, just some baking :) Tomorrow I hope the ebay parcels will all be posted and 2 of the children back at school, so more time to de-clutter!

Hi, I am in a great declutter/new year/new organised me mood so am glad to have found this thread :D

Have had a fab declutter weekend:

3 bags to the charity shop (including a bag of 'bag for lifes' and canvas shopping bags, over time, forget to take them and buy more :o but not anymore)

Big bag of shredding after going through my 2 drawer filing cabinet

Bought a 'gift bag organiser' http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/13/143/Hallmark-Gift-Bag-Organizer/102317 can't find just a pic but this is it, was a few quid in home bargains before Christmas and spent a geeky hour organising my card/wrapping paper/gift bag cupboard!

Went through the pile of magazines I have/been given (Not buying anymore though, tooooo expensive) and cut out the things I want to keep to put them in my 'Monica Gellar' style files and recycled the rest.

Re appropriated a little chest of drawers from the bedroom and put it in the box room to store some craft making stuff in and transferred the stuff in to it, chucking out/recycling the broken stuff I have been having on to 'just in case'.

    IN:

Only food shopping and nothing else this weekend :T

    Not much progress today...

Out - binbag full of rubbish put out to join the pile of binbags next to the wheelie bin outside our back gate. I wonder if tomorrow will be our lucky day!
    In - Groceries.
Kids should be back at school tomorrow barring a massive snowfall overnight so I will get into my stride then (hopefully!)

You couldn't clean them very well in these mugs.. they leaked! I use an empty jam jar or bean tin.. cleanbrush straight after use.. then rinse it and leave it to dry.. all teribly civilised!

  • It’s day 8 of my challenge and I’ve still got loads of things I want to declutter. I’m waiting for the incessant snow to go, so that I can put things on Freecycle and people will be able to get to us to pick them up. I’ve a feeling this challenge could run a few more days!

Today’s decluttering was easy: I had a bag of toys in the loft given to me by a Freecycler, but because they were very old and had been stored somewhere damp, most of them were mouldy and smelled. I also had another big sack of toys given to me by my daughter to dispose of. These were given to her by her sis in law and an uncle of her boyfriend’s, and as Harry (grandson) has millions of toys, these can go. Hoping to get out to Oxfam tomorrow so I'll take these along to them.

I found some foam draught excluder in the garage. Hubby had been complaining about the draught that comes through the door from the garage into the kitchen and had asked me to make a draught excluder. While waiting for that to be made, he’d stuffed a fleece blanket under the bottom of the door but it’s not very practical when we keep wanting to go out to the garage. I thought I’d have a go at putting this draught excluder round the door frame – and hey presto, no more draughts! Hubby was never one to go for the simplest option first!

    IN:

£3 from my daughter for the milk I got for her yesterday.

Baby grandson, while his mum and dad went shopping.

    OUT:
1 sack of manky toys and stuff from the loft, in the bin for dustmen.
1 sack of toys earmarked for Oxfam
1 reel of draught excluder used round door frame
1 baby grandson back home to his mum & dad
2 bottle of milk we'd kept from yesterday for daughter
Keep Calm and Carry On Kondoing
