The Great Declutter Part 2

Hi All
Well today I got rid of DS1 and DS2 back to school :j and then DH was asked to come into work for three days overtime :money:so it has been blissfully quiet here and I feel like I have got more done because I am not flying from one thing to the next!! The thaw has well and truly begun here so I am hopeful that the binmen will arrive tomorrow, in anticipation I have put all of the rubbish out (DH was going to take it to the tip but is now busy!) as the customer service lady told me that they will take everything that is presented to them............I certainly hope so!
mfwin - best to start off slowly, I am still looking at things and thinking oh no! Once you start to see it come together then you will get more motivated and will see it all start to take shape, its a bit like a snowball, it sort of gets its own momentum after a while!!
So IN:
Post
Free gift from mag subscription
Easiyo yoghurt maker (second one as the first cant keep up with the demand )
Out:
DS1 DS2 and DHall back later though
Bag of rubbish (all the others already stacked neatly next to the bin!)
Two more bags of recycling
Laundry basket past its best
Couple of manky plants
Rubbish out of the family bathroom (see recycling above!)
4 bags of clothes to the clothing bank that have been pending since it started to snow
Ebay parcel in recyled packaging
Post either sorted or shredded
2 lots of toiletries finished out of the mountain that exists
Today I have sorted out the family bathroom and the dumping ground that was the cupboard in the hallway - scary thing was that I binned probably 80% of what was in the cupboard as we hadnt used it in so long  just goes to show!
Hopefully the rest of my freecycle stuff will now be picked up as the snow is disappearing rapidly which will free up some more room.
Hope everyone else is having a good day :TFree/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

Hi all
Had a productive day today...DD back at school, so I've had a pretty free run at it all - DS has been 'helping' me too....
IN:
Post
Drawings and junk models from school
OUT:
Cardboard box from spare room
2009 diary
Dried up bits of plasticine 'models' from DDs windowsill
Pot of out of date Sudocrem (bought for DD's nappy rash five years ago...sniff...).
Sometimes it's hard to let go of things....I know it's only a pot of cream and it's nearly empty, but we've had that almost as long as we've had our daughter....
Still, I've been strong and it's in the bin! That's half my problem...I can't let go of things, but strangely, once they've gone I'm OK.
Take care

Hi, does anyone have any ideas if there is anything that can be done with old NEXT catologues.....heavy hardback ones or is it just recycling. TIA xx0

Toochoosey - might your local school or nursery take them? They like them for the kids to cut out pictures sometimes

In: parcel from catalogue - pair of trousers
Out:
- 20 old avon catalogues (I'm a rep, don't hoard that badly lol)
- Half used tub of eye make up remover pads that I can't use (threw out full unopened tub yesterday, so not quite sure why these stayed - just caught sight of them on bathroom shelf when I was sitting on the loo earlier)
- Old keys - god knows what most of them were for, but I figured if I didn't know, I couldn't use them anyway  inclusing two sets of car keys for my last two cars!
- Poinsetta plant past its bestGOD BLESS DURAN DURAN

Gosh this thread is moving quickly - we had no internet yesterday so wasn't on for a whole day - aaggh!
Anyway, have had a slow but sure tidy up the past couple of days and the bins have now been emptied - yay! I've got loads still to do but am starting to feel a whole lot better about our house - this thread has been a great inspiration.
IN
Nothing (honest!)
OUT
Black bag of dressing up clothes, two carrier bags of books and one carrier bag of clothes to charity
Large bag of rubbish to the bins
Two boxes of recycling
Right - onwards and upwards! The great declutter 2010Money neutral and thrifty gifty for Christmas 2010 :xmassmile0 -

I've been hopeless - came on a week ago, did a list of the year so far and said I'd come on every day - then the snow came, work problems and stress and suddenly it's a week late - naughty Yorkie!
Anyway this week hasn't been too bad - judging by the tonne of recycling in our garage (missed the Christmas collection as we were away, and we've done quite a bit of decluttering of paper and catalogues since we've been back). Thankfully back to normal timetable today so will put the full boxes out tomorrow and see what's left.
Pending:
Lots of reycling and the Christmas tree (both in the garage).
In:
A few bits of post (most of which now in said recycling)
some food
a few bits from Lakeland sale
car lightbulbs (now in the car)
bird food (which won't last long judging by last week!)
Out:
mainly food - being at home is bad for the Christmas choccy stash and our waistlines!
Did put the decorations away nicely last week though and I'm getting through the washing and ironing mountains.
