The Great Declutter Part 2

  • I copied this idea from loopychriss who on a regular basis clears 100 things in 10 days. I mutiplied it up because my house is brimming with stuff!

    I think you're doing brilliantly, too! :D

    Last summer when I did the 100 things challenge some days I was struggling to find 10, but this time I'm not having too much of a problem, so it just shows how much stuff crept back in while I wasn't looking!

    Re counting 30 magazines as 30 items or just 1: if I'm short of things one day, I'll count them individually, but mostly I lump them all in as 1 thing. Today, for instance, I had a sack full of baby toys, probably about 30 or so, but I didn't really count them.

    There's no hard and fast rules, and it's not a competition. No-one will penalise you if you don't find 10 in a day.... the main thing is that your house gets decluttered!!:j

  • Morning everyone :)

    Not done much decluttering over the last few days... Just cannot seem to get motivated, Think its this damn weather that just makes me want to curl up on the sofa and watch tv all day :rolleyes:

    Yesterday I did manage to sort a box in the spare room and sort the bathroom out.

    IN
    Box of xmas crackers for next year... £1.25 from Tesco's Bargain as they were £7.99 before the sale
    Bread, Milk, Wipes and Carrots and a cucumber
    2 x Huge pizza's reduced to 60p
    2 boxe's Mr kiplins mince pies.. Reduced to 30p
    A 7ft christmas tree.. Got this off freecycle ready for next year ..I did purchase one last year but I wasn't overly keen as its one of those slimline ones

    Out
    2 sunflower pics ..Gave away on freecycle
    6 Dvd's again gave away on freecycle
    8 pairs of shoes freecyle
    4 Hangbags...Freecycle
    Carrier full of empty shampoo, Shower gel, and bubble bath bottles... ready for recycling
    Carrier full of houshold rubbish

    Since I have managed to declutter my kitchen and living room I feel much happier whenever I walk in either of those rooms...Just got to do the rest of the house ....So today Im going to tackle our Bedroom, Especially the wardobes :eek:.

    So my plans for today are :

    Put WM and DW on
    Get rid of the small ironing pile before it turns into a massive ironing pile!
    Completely empty mine, DH and DS's wardrobes and drawers and throw anything out that we have not wore in the last 6 months
    Sort underwear drawers out
    Sort shoe cupboard
    Clean under the bed
    Polish/hoover
    Change bedding
    Prepare dinner

    Hope everyone has a great day.. xx

    So today I put out my rubbish bin which was nearly full - and I shall be sorting and flinging for the rest of the time to make maximum use of the councils generosity!

    So far:

    IN: nothing (post hasnt arrived yet :) )

    OUT:
    1 file of ppaers shredded and disposed of;
    2 bags rubbish from bedroom (15 minute tidy in there);
    5 magazines;
    1 bin bag full of rubbish to the bin;
    Contents of bin under my desk (overflowing);
    1 rock hard slice of bread, obviously past its best;
    debris from pulled Christmas crackers.

    So far all I have decluttered is rubbish; cant wait to get started on the hoards of other stuff, but will clear the throw-away junk first, then I will be able to see what is there that I dont need/want/use any more.
