im ironing this morning but inspired by olliebeaks self imposed challenges they set themselves yesterday im going to try for the same three. this afternoon i WILL do the dining table whisch is covered in magazines, 2 carved pumpkins various toys homeworks clutter and a pile of newly ironed t shirts. then i will do the coffee table which by recent standards isbnt that bad - just a few mags and bits of paper the kids have dumped over the weekend. the puter table is a mess - money off coupons, old lotto tickets, toys pens that probally dont work and 'bits' that should be elsewhere.
ill iron and put away till 11.30 then after work and lunch ill do those three and report back tomorrow.
Good to see you back Mrs M. I really like Ollie's approach too. So I now have a dining table back and a nearly tidy coffee table - stuff seems attracted to it!
I got rid of 55 things at the weekend so will add that to my total tally for 2010. Think I will attack the kitchen next.
Plus I keep telling myself to sort out some old winter coats I no longer love, as many charity shops round our way are asking for winter clothing donations.
So my next mini target is:
- Sort 3 things of winter clothing for the charity shop (including any unloved hats and stuff)
- Sort 3 pieces of tat from the kitchen.
- Tidy 3 things from the stairs

hi pp - why not start with tidying around your computer? Just try and clear some bits for 5 minutes. In sorting out the dining table the other day I found one of the missing phone chargers, so it's a bit of a treasure quest sometimes too!

:DThanks for the advice and the kicking. I actually did some, I threw away 5 tupperware boxes (ice cream tubs) without lids that kept falling outof the cupboard, I also sorted through clothes and have 1/2 bag for the charity shop. I have cooked a meal in the slow cooker for tonights tea (sausages) and cleared away after myself you can actually see the top of my kitchen work surface (yes i really am that bad) I took a large reusable shopping bag and put all the books off the stairs in and put in DS1 bedroom (he is at UNI) and if i dont use them in (how long would you recommend? ) i will charity shop. but to see the stairs clear is heaven... Roll on tomorrow... I need to sort out sock basketsssssss. how many pairs do you think is fair for a person? I have millions of odd ones and keep them thinking I have seen that other one......Determined to do better0

got slightly waylaid on the 3 table tasks i set myself, they are tidy and semiclear - the junk has gone and a whole brown bag of papers and mags went outside off the dining table. but i did take 5 whole bin bags of clothes down to the clothes bank and have another of better stuff bagged for the local charity shop at the weekend They were out of the attic not piled on the tables i hasten to add:o. can see the carpet again in youngest DS bedroom Im trying to fill at box of knitted and sewn charity items for the weekend so i can get that posted off and clear some space in the cupboard for my lounge wool stash so been concentrating on my sewing machine more than tidying today.
also in the charity box are a pair of new unworn shoes i brought my youngest DS in a slae to grow into then i promptly forgot where id put them till they were a size too small! DD is doing boxes for troops at college so last night we had a hunt round and found notebooks toiletries and little gifty bits to donate to them so thats a few more bits gone to college with her this morning.
only baby steps i know but must gt back into the more leaves the house than comes in frame of mind.SPC~12 ot 124

Posted another Ebay parcel today, and I have a bid on the freezer which finishes tonight, so hopefully that will be gone soon, but the only other thing I had a bid on got cancelled by the bidder! Got home from shopping to find the new Thomson directory on the step, so put the old one straight in the recycling box and tomorrow I will take a few more used envelopes in to work for internal mail.
I really must get back into major decluttering, as I haven't done much at all lately, and I was doing so well before but now the house looks like a bomb has hit it again, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

Hi Picklepud, I'm new at this, but you could give your odd socks to school or preschool for them to make sock puppets out of, or offer them on freecycle, as an idea
I am really trying to declutter, but is very slow progress.
We want to move back to NZ so really have to declutter!! yikes :eek:0
