    Hi Ollie!

How's the table and that going? My dining table and coffee table are little European mountains of tat!

I've begun the clear 100 things this weekend:
    1. Shampoo used up (as part of toiletry challenge of using what you have rather than constantly buying 3 for 2s etc) (packaging recycled)

    2. Bottle of brown sauce (licked the by the dog:eek: so that's the end of that, he's super quick with things like this (packaging recycled)

    3. Face cream used up (again as part of toiletry challenge) (packaging recycled)

    4. Worn out jeans, to "rag bag" where charities can sell clothes by the weight for money (charity)

    5. Worn out leggings, much loved, it was hard to say goodbye! As above (charity)

    Well it's a start.
:) Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage

By the end of today I shall have:
-[STRIKE]taken 1 small table, 1 annoying filing cabinet, 1 storage box on wheels to the CS [/STRIKE] DONE!
    - [STRIKE]I shall also check for more items for the CS as I only donated 2 pairs of trousers & 6 carrier bags this week.[/STRIKE]
    15 ITEMS FOUND & DONATED
    - taken the garden rubbish, tetra packs, large cardboard, polysterene & odd bits of wood to the recycling centre Can't do this today, so Sunday
    - taken some bits of dead carpet & a smelly goundsheet to the tip Sunday

On the plus side, I've written most of the Christmas cards, using up 3 packs of cards & 2 sheets of stickers & recycled the packaging.

I also tidied up my folder of paperwork -almost half a sack of shredded paper- and closed an old savings account with £2.51 in it!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

I've begun the clear 100 things this weekend:
    1. to 5.

Loads more bits sorted - about 40 items in all. From magazines, old receipts, packaging, books for charity, stuff returned to shops (usually v lazy, not MSE about this), books returned to friends. Very pleased.

So up to 55 items now. Just another 45 things to find. Perhaps I'll attack the kitchen next.

And perfect weather for decluttering, wet and horrible!

Keep looking here and thinking how much I would like to aspire to all your endeavours.
I shan't attempt the 100 in so many days as I would feel overwhelmed.

Anyway ,this weekend I have learnt how to use the overlocker I was given last year-so that got rid of a bath sheet by cutting it up,overlocking the oblongs and tada--16 lovely sized useful dishcloths!!Then tidied it away under my craft worktop, till the next time.

Sold my old sewing machine to a friend-and got it out of the house.

Sorted out all the beetroot DH came home with-11 bunches,2 pressure cookers full,so those are pickled in Kilner jars(which had buttons in ,which are now in a plastic box.Not as pretty but stackable)-2 large and 2 middling.4 bunches to Mum to share with her friend.

'Found ' the cooking apples, more sauce for freezer and crumble for lunch today.Plus 2 large jars of mincemeat. Also wrapped the best in newspaper, for another day.

Turned 1kg of green and red tomatoes into a hot spicy chutney(Nigel Slater recipe).more pots for christmas presents, only 4 jars but have more toms left.
So that got rid of more jars.

Thrown out 1 recycling sack full of old magazine-and no I wasn't going to take them to our local surgery, that's where I work and guess where I got them from.

Suitcase and a few bits up in the attic-attic needs sorting but not in anyones way, unless it all falls thro'the ceiling.

Acquired a radio/cd player,so the old one will go,along with several duff mini player thingys-wonder if DD2 wants to do an ebay outing.

Carrier bag full of books to Mum.

Patchwork going well in craft group, but only got rid of a tiny bit of stuff.

Need to make bags for Christmas gift bags and GD's play bits, the stash of material will go down with a little application.

Will also sort through old cards to make gift tags, cards etc.

Thank you all for the kick up the ###.

    mrss

I really like the notion of decluttering everything. But now with a huge dip in income I an loath to throw too much away as I feel we might need it and not be able to afford it again, if you see what I mean.

    Anyone else have these thoughts?

DH didn't make the trip to the tip as the painter turned up a day late :(. Everything is packed and ready to go though!

It was quite funny spending Halloween with a freshly painted front door that wouldn't close ... only one treater got 'tricked' as it was too dark to read the WET PAINT signs :o

  • havnet been into this thread for ages, fil was ill then passed away so summer was not good. i must try to get my head round decluttering before christmas as the house has really gone to pot over the last few months. im still spending at lot of time with mil so havent been giving our house its full attention.

im ironing this morning but inspired by olliebeaks self imposed challenges they set themselves yesterday im going to try for the same three. this afternoon i WILL do the dining table whisch is covered in magazines, 2 carved pumpkins various toys homeworks clutter and a pile of newly ironed t shirts. then i will do the coffee table which by recent standards isbnt that bad - just a few mags and bits of paper the kids have dumped over the weekend. the puter table is a mess - money off coupons, old lotto tickets, toys pens that probally dont work and 'bits' that should be elsewhere.

ill iron and put away till 11.30 then after work and lunch ill do those three and report back tomorrow.
