The Great Declutter Part 2

:AI really must get rid of my old computer before Christmas, as it has been behind the dining table for the past few months, while I decide what to do with it:eek:! I think I'll offer it on Freecycle, it's old but still works, and someone might be able to make use of it even if just for spares. I think I will concentrate on de-cluttering downstairs this week, as it looks a tip, unfortunately I'm working this afternoon and all day tomorrow, so won't get much done till at least Wednesday!
Luxor's description of tights made me laugh :rotfl:

Hi sue - I you need to make sure you take out the hard drive - apparently this is where even if you have deleted something someone unscrupulous could try and recover data such as bank details or passwords. Better to be safe
Hi, thanks for the warning but I knew that anyway, that's one reason why it's been behind the dining table for so long, as I was hoping to find a free or low cost drive wiper to get the hard drive securely wiped, but I've not managed to find anything for the operating system (windows 98). I will probably take out the hard drive instead, and just offer it on Freecycle and dump it if it's not claimed, as I really do not want it there at Christmas.

Had a busy week decluttering wise, despite a busy week with work and other stuff too.
Loads out recently:
Sold about 30 things on ebay, all packaged up and gone now meaning that there is less random packaging materials in the house too.
Sold all my countryfile magazines and the remnants of my surplus to requirements craft bits through work - £25 more to the pot and a lot more space and happy people.
Sold something my OH got free that he didn't need and an unwanted present through work too - another £14 in the pot.
Finally got rid of something on freecycle been waiting ages for lady to collect. Also three bags of wadding/stuffing gone :-)
Lots of shredding done and more paper recycled.
Bag of textiles, tin foil and overspill recycling taken to bins in Sainsburys car park.
Lots of random little bits and pieces recycled/thrown away round the house, everything I see I think whether I need it.
Paperwork for our music group and a pile of old programmes from shows I've done with other groups redistributed too!
In:
4 big really useful boxes for OH to put stuff in as his stuff is overflowing still and it's stuff he collects and doesn't want to get rid of.
Another 14 lots on ebay, 5 will sell and will hopefully sell 48 foolscap folders through work too today as they don't fit our 'new' filing system at home and have been in the spare room for a year!
I'm getting there - busy weekend of decluttering ahead!Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

Not much got rid of today, but lots of things put where they should be, so the lounge and dining area look a lot tidier now.
I tidied the cupboard in the storage/display unit, to make room for some bits that were stored on top of it, so they are now out of sight. Tidied the books on top of the unit, and got rid of random paperwork.
Put a couple of items in the charity bag, and put some CD singles that I don’t play anymore into Ebay/Freecycle box, although these may go to CS instead.
Put the wild bird food in the shed, after filling the bird feeders, so now have room in the storage boxes under the stairs for Christmas drinks.
Put all the CDs, (which were piled on top of the microwave, and in various places in the lounge/dining area) neatly into the CD racks.
Moved the piles of washing off the armchairs, and put it in the laundry basket ready to be ironed.
Also had a very profitable time as I was de-cluttering, as I found £15 in a savings tin in the cupboard, (nothing to say what it was put in there for, so that will go in our household savings fund), found an envelope containing £60 which MIL gave me for my birthday in August and had got mixed in with some papers, and a £1 coin under my small CD rack on the unit, so I’m £76 richer than I thought I was and I’m a very happy bunny, lol!Weight loss challenge 2/10lbs

About to be decluttered:
Done some serious sorting of furniture. So a table and chairs will be hitting the streets of freecycle - they have been in storage which is daft. Someone else will make good use of them.Declutter 300 things in December challenge, 9/300. Clear the living room. Re-organize storage
