Clothes challenge today. ETA for next few days
    1) Retrieve all clean dry clothes from airing cupboard, spare room, bottom of wardrobe and other places Done EEK there's a lot more of this stuff than I realised
    2) Sort and put away Done
    3) Go through kids' clothes with them and remove the ones they've grown out of
    4) Go through "clothes to grow into" bag with kids and see if there are any they could start using now
    5) Make list of what extra uniform items we need to get before term starts

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

Well done everyone - loads of clutter finding its way out of your homes.

My progress is still very slow. I have now managed to empty my freezer, defrost and clean it which is a great job done. I've also been working my way through all out of date food in the cupboards which is still in progress.

A small shed has been emptied and recycled by going to a neighbour. The contents went into the big shed which has been emptied gradually - still another day or two's work in there to be done when I have someone available to help me.

So my totals for the month to date are 14/40 general and I'm still at 25/50 paperwork.

Hi Everyone - I have not been here for a long time and have felt so guilty about it. Anywhichway - Im back and - as ever- going to really really try to a) Not waste money (I mean not waste rather than not spend) Realise I have developed into a bit of a shopaholic...
    b) chuck out/give away/recycle all the clutter which depresses me so much
    c) deal with stuff rather than procrastinating

I started today by taking a car-full to the CS and using a load of HG but damaged potatoes for dinner and making jam from some slightly squidgy HG raspberries.
Now going to write menu plans for the week ...
    Stay clutter-free
No new stuff unless to replace broken items that are essential.
£2 savings pot (started Oct 09) £182 so far (£100 of which is banked)
Roadkill jar (found money) 87p and 20 eurocents

    Hello all.

Well tonight I have been a busy bee.

I have a single bed with 2 storage cupboards underneath that I have not sorted for maybe 18 months - 2 years. I have managed to sort out one of them , getting a large binbag or rubbish out in the bin a big pile to put up in the loft (paper work xmas stuff) and a pile of washing to slowly put in the wash basket (so mum doesn't see how much has been collected up there lol)

I also finally sorted out my pre payment prescription certificate

  • A am a terrible hoarder, but I live in a small one bed flat, so there's a limit to how much I can cram in here! I've decided to be organised and prepared for all eventualities this winter (see the "preparing for winter" thread!), and if all that stuff is coming into the house, then some stuff has to go out!

Yesterday I listed some things on eBay, I've only 10 auctions, and most of those are relisted, so need to have a sort out and find some more to put on. But it's a start :)

Today I have been incredibly brave and put some things on Freegle! I was a Freegle virgin, but no more (or am I still, until someone collects my stuff?) I'll give it a while, and if no one wants it (mostly non working electricals) then I get a lift to the tip, or arrange for the council to collect. It does not go back in the cupboard! *Promise!*

Since last Sunday my indoor decluttering has resulted in -

Completing an official form and sending.
Sending a long time left email.
15 used batteries checked and recycled.
    Bits from plugs recycled.
    Old rusty coins thrown away.
Broken and worn kitchen equipment thrown away.
    Using up old herbs/spices.

(Also, garden "waste" to recycling bin).

So "bits and pieces" being done but am wondering if the winter months (indoors more) would be more productive?

12 out of 13 items sold on E-Bay today, so I've started wrapping them, ready to post.

Going through the drawers: 6 garments into the CS bag and 5[STRIKE]dead[/STRIKE] poorly pillow cases & 2 manky sheets to go to CS rag bag. Now the drawers shut properly!

Well, I haven't got any further with my clothes challenge, but I've made progress in another area.

My kids decided today that they wanted to start sorting out some of their dad's stuff, which is all in boxes in my garage, so I thought I'd capitalise on their enthusiasm and go with that for today instead of trying to make them deal with clothes when they weren't in the mood. We went out to the garage and chose an enormous box to bring in - mostly CDs but some other stuff as well. I've got the CDs into 3 piles - get rid, keep, listen to before deciding.

I've also brought in a couple of CD shelf units that he had, and put them in my house. Then I've got my own CDs out of their box (which was falling apart so it's in the wheelie bin now) and put them in with the "keep" pile. I'm going through it ripping everything to my laptop that I hadn't previously ripped, and then putting all the ripped ones on the shelf units.
