The Great Declutter Part 2

  • Hi

Small update. DH started to re-organise the loft last night and managed to empty 4 boxes and condense down to 1. So 4 empty boxes in the recycling and space made on a shelf!

Kept up to date with recycling, shredding, filing and washing at the weekend - so although not much further ahead, haven't gone backwards...

Main thing I've got to do this week is sort jars out for massive chutney session next week. Any with suspect lids can go in the recycling.

    Yesterdays decluttering -

Used up three toiletery items in a bath.

That was the end of my August decluttering challenge so am wondering whether to continue into September (?). If not, thanks for your posts.

If you need to carry on decluttering, then please carry on posting on here :) Decluttering is a constant challenge in this house with 4 children :D Even when they're eventually gone I doubt I'll ever be rid of clutter :p

Challenge for Wednesday: Go through box of late-nearly-ex's kitchen stuff and identify things to give to homeless charity (for them to give to homeless people who get accommodation and need kitchen stuff). Add to box with plates etc that I prepared last week. Put packing material in so I can take it to work on Thursday without things getting broken. Give it to person at work who's involved with homeless outreach thingy.

Got home really late from taking my kids to my parents. Haven't done as much sorting as I'd hoped, but boxes by the door ready to take to work tomorrow. I'll just have to do some of the sorting when I get there. :o

    Challenges for Thursday:
Take boxes to work and deliver them to the friend.
Make inroads on the paperwork pile.

CFW - Proud to be dealing with my clutter

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
  • DH cleared some MORE stuff from the loft yesterday! and took down his garage down his mum's...

All the recycling has gone out this morning - massive amount of cardboard.

Dropped some paperwork off at the charity I volunteer for yesterday, so thats a bit more cleared.

Phew - didn't think I'd be posting more than once a week.

greent - Thanks for your post. The motivation to continue would come from some people's claims of the health benefits through decluttering. Hope it's okay for my September focus?.

So this would be so far -

Creative use of fridge clutter for recipes.
Organised filing system - recent bills filed/oldest recycled.
Creating space by emptying the compost bin. Garden now refreshed.
Large kitchen surface cleared of plant pots. Feels fresh and spacious so less chance of accidents, spillages etc.

Not done much de-cluttering lately, mostly papers and cardboard to recycling, but I did post 3 Ebay parcels yesterday(only CDs but better than nothing), took my dad's laundry round to him and did a bit from the ironing pile, but still got lots of stuff on the armchair waiting to be ironed so that's still looking very cluttered at the moment, I really must tackle it over the weekend!
